Will there be a continuation of the Anniversary series?
Next up should be LOW !?
Anybody know somebody at EMI whom we can extract some information?

More likely to be reissued in a box set in September with "Heroes", Stage (1978 mix), Stage (2005 mix), Lodger, Lodger New Mix and Re:Call 3 that may be called 'A New Career In A New Town'.

"I'd like to tell you that most of us in this band tonight are very ill with bronchitis, but we want to try and rock 'n' roll as much as we can!"

Sad but most likely true.

EMI? Don't think whatever is left of them is involved in these releases. But they stopped the anniversary editions after Diamond Dogs anyway...

DAMN! You're right!! it doesn't say 'Anniversary' on the 'Station To Station'(+ Live Nassau Coliseum '76) box.
I was hoping for a box with 'Low' material.. like e.g. the early sketches made for 'The Man Who Fell To Earth'.

Those 'sketches' will never see the light of day. Paul Buckmaster has them and he has said they are considered to be too rough to be released. The recordings were suppose to be final but (possibly because of the heavy cocaine use) resulted in demo-ish sounding tracks. Director of TMWFTE, Nicholas Roeg, rejected the soundtrack because of this and other reasons. Too bad cuz 'LOW' is my fav.

I have long been the conspiracy theorist about Bowie's soundtrack for TMWFTE, some video doco's say it is side 2 of Low and some of STS,... https://youtu.be/1cD5nSNfAOM
I believe the caption to this pic...

"From David Buckley's 2007 Mojo interview with Buckmaster:
"There were a couple of medium tempo rock instrumental pieces, with simple motifs and riffy kind of grooves, with a line-up of David's rhythm section (Carlos Alomar et al) plus J Peter Robinson on Fender-Rhodes-Fender piano and me on cello and some synth overdubs, using ARP Odyssey and Solina.

There were some more slow and spacey cues with synth, Rhodes and cello; and a couple of wierder atonal cues using synths and percussion. There was a ballad instrumental by David that appears on Low (Subterraneans).

It was performed by David, me and J Peter on various keyboards. There was also a piece I wrote and performed using some beautifully made biras (African thumb pianos) I had purchased earlier that year, plus cello, all done by multiple overdubbing.

And a song David wrote, played and sang, called Wheels, which had a gentle sort of melancholy mood to it. The title referred to the alien train from his character Newton's home world."

Buckmaster believes the music wasn't used for three main reasons:,......" quoted from http://www.bowiegoldenyears.com/mwfte.html

But i thought this was the interesting bit...."In the event "Papa" John Philips was assigned the job of putting together a soundtrack in London.
Phillips had heard Bowie's score, and later described it as "haunting and beautiful, with chimes, Japanese bells, and what sounded like electronic winds and waves".
Bowie had the soundtrack with him during the Low sessions and at one point played it to the musicians: "It was quite excellent", recalled guitarist Ricky Gardiner, "quite unlike anything else he's done".

Bowie sent a copy of Low to Roeg in 1977 with a note, "This is what I wanted to do for the film.""

I know i have too much time on my hands.  :?

So out of the 2 cokeheads to do the soundtrack ?.

"Goldblatt was later told that “the projectionist had gone into the toilets and all he could hear was somebody in the cubicle next to him sniffing – big sniffs”. The bathroom breaks Phillips had been taking, almost at the end of every take, suddenly made sense. “He was doing unbelievable amounts of coke.” So much, Goldblatt believes, that he was having auditory hallucinations. Rafe McKenna, assistant engineer, recalls Roeg coming to the studio to have a “serious discussion with Phillips about his behaviour. Told him off, basically, and said stop pissing off the engineers and get it finished tonight.”"

LOL Oh! The tortured art-ist.  :?

Reading between the line here (pardon the pun) but there does seem to be conflicting reports on just how good the supposed MWFTE soundtrack music actually is. I can't believe that some of the musicians would say "it was excellent" if it wasn't. I assume they are talking about the quality of the actual music rather than how well played it is. Now "rough" sounding can simply be someones opinion of what they would expect a finished article to sound like, and tracks like 'Abdulmajid' or 'All Saints' could be described as 'rough' sounding by some people as they don't conform to a normal song structure.
I hope we do get to hear this music and as for 'Low' in general, TV mixed it into 5.1 a long time ago so maybe we may get some kind of special edition at some point. I do hope so as it is my fave album too.

eno said he and bowie worked 'on top of many of the tracks' from the TMWFTE soundtrack.
however, bowie denies this and says only the backwords (reverse) bass track from 'subterraneans' was salvaged. why the discrepancies ?

I think it is a theory for conspiracists, but some reports (as above) say Bowie and Buckmaster had a copy each.
But like a lot of non -releases, copyright clearance is a nightmare (and what kind of market would there be for this kind of release ?) bonus disc maybe, but i don't know that W.B. (Parlophone) are interested in anything but the bottom line.

I'm still waiting for Jeff Beck to sign off "The Jean Genie/Love Me Do & Around & Around" from the movie, but that's probably never gonna happen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bokfKV4a_TI

Any how Bowie's management have instructions on what and when to release what, guess it's a case of wait & see.http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/news/great-new-david-bowie-songs-to-be-released-over-the-coming-years-producer-tony-visconti-confirms-a7063691.html

theory for conspiracists....

A member of BWW made the caption of "Excuse me Mr Bowie, you left these bags of 'flour' in the bathroom". LOL

... and another member 'dockered' this....LOL

A very long time ago I found this supposed "demo" for TMWFTE soundtrack, on Soulseek or something. I'm fully aware that this is more than likely a fake but hey, just in case anyone else is interested: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7kkAwvNQjaaZTlmajVUWU1jd0E

Hi libertine90
I tried SoundHound. It says it's Slow Doorbell Waltz by Nicolai Dunger, Seems to be right.
