The 2005 mix mastered for CD originally, and the original mix mastered from analog source?Have read somewhere that someone thought that the remastered original mix in HD had really bigimprovements.Have listened to both on LP some time ago and the original mix was the one i will go back to later.

I have to confess that I am not a fan of *any* of the latest batch of remasters - the one here (the 2005 mix) is definitely better on the DVDA compared to the remaster.
As for the original mix I am not yet 100% certain in my mind what my preferred version is. Probably the Ryko one as they did not limit all the headroom out.

I've played both through my Cambridge audio CXN streamer though im using external hard drive. I'd say the remaster sounds only slightly better, it's hard to decide but you get four extra tracks with the DVD-A.
The DVD audio of the rise and fall of ziggy had 4 extra tracks, I've not seen Moonage Daydream instrumental appear anywhere else

The DVD with the 40th Ziggy vinyl was not DVD-Audio, it was DVD-Video format.
DVD-Audio is lossless, and if it had been a DVD-A then the 5.1 mix would have been lossless as well and not half bitrate DTS. As it is, we got ripped by EMI (again) who called it DVD-Audio when it was absolutely, definitively not.
(The DVD-A of the David Live set does not get you 4 extra tracks, so I am guessing you are talking about the Ziggy 40th anniversary vinyl)

This post isn't about the Who Can I Be Now version, the link in my original post was to the new 24bit / 96kHz issue containing 21 tracks.

This is how discussions may work here. You start it with Your post, some post something strict to Your point, others bring further points that have to do anything with Your post into the discussion.
I think it is better not to go strictly only for the starting point, but to turn around any 'stone' and look under, sometimes it helps one or another member to get a total new sight to a problem he/she
had before.
Please allow this discussion (only my view ).

By the way, I think You can be proud of the discussion You started with Your post, look at other posts, some of them are 'dead' after a few answers, but here we go on and on.....

Fair enough points and well made too - I had not considered this and stand well corrected.
