Hello everyone! Does anyone know if there are multiple versions of the unreleased Toy album circulating? Reason I ask is because the version I downloaded from here (http://www.bowiestation.com/TT2/torrents-details.php?id=442) on Godfather records runs 60:55. Somewhere buried in a box in my closet is an old CDR from when it first leaked. I gave a copy to my brother and he said it runs 62:07, the same as this listing on Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toy_(David_Bowie_album). Comparing each song gave different running times as well for just about every song:

Wikipedia:
Track listing[edit]

This is the track listing of the version of the album leaked in 2011,[8][9] which is rumored to be different from the originally intended version.[5]
1."Uncle Floyd" – 6:15
2."Afraid" – 3:29
3."Baby Loves That Way" – 4:38
4."I Dig Everything" – 4:53
5."Conversation Piece" – 3:53
6."Let Me Sleep Beside You" – 3:14
7."Toy (Your Turn to Drive)" – 4:46
8."Hole in the Ground" – 3:30
9."Shadow Man" – 4:41
10."In the Heat of the Morning" – 3:51
11."You've Got a Habit of Leaving" – 4:49
12."Silly Boy Blue" – 5:33
13."Liza Jane" – 4:48
14."The London Boys" – 3:47

Length
62:07

I think that there are, at least, 3 or 4 different boot issued versions of 'Toy' out there in circulation. As to the exact differences of them or which one is the best one, I don't have any idea.

:help

Interesting, thanks. I would have assumed they'd all be the same.

Other than the listing above, I also have an MP3 version that has an extra track, track 15, Toy Medley.

Uncle Floyd, I dig everything, Hole in the Ground, In the heat of the morning, and Liza Jane are 30 second snippets. Afraid is apparently a demo version.

An alleged vinyl version bought on eBay apparently has the following listing:

Tracklisting:
01 - Uncle Floyd
02 - Afraid
03 - I Dig Everything
04 - Let Me Sleep Beside You
05 - Toy (Your Turn To Drive)
06 - Hole In The Ground
07 - Shadow Man
08 - In The Heat Of The Morning
09 - Silly Boy Blue
10 - Liza Jane
11 - The London Boys

There's another on called "Toying" who's tracklisting is as follows:

Track Listing

01. Afraid
02. America
03. London Boys
04. I Dig Everything
05. Can't Help Thinking About Me
06. Pictures Of Lily
07. Silly Boy Blue
08. Trying To Get To Heaven
09. My Death
10. Can't Help Thinking About Me/(Good Morning Little Schoolgirl) The Jean Genie
11. London Boys
12. I Dig Everything
13. Can't Help Thinking About Me
14. Heroes (rehearsal)
15. Heroes (Tibet)

There's also "Toys from the Attic" but that's nothing like "Toys"!!

Maybe, maybe not but it's not on any of the unofficial releases which have been researched and are presented above. So, without knowing exactly what was on the official unreleased Toy recording, it's conjecture at this point.

The one I have unfortunately has no artwork or info with it, but here's the track listing:

01 Uncle Floyd
02 Afraid
03 Baby loves that way
04 I dig everything
05 Conversation Piece
06 Let me Sleep Beside You
07 Toy (Your turn to drive)
08 Hole in the Ground
09 Shadow Man
10 In the Heat of the MOrning
11 You've Got a Habit of Leaving
12 Silly Boy Blue
13 Liza Jane
14 The London Boys

It's simply called "Toy."

...and then my mind split open.

I believe all of these are sourced from the same MP3 leak in 2011.

You are correct. All available versions/variations are based on lossy leaked files.

Makes me wonder how they ended up with different track times.

one I had that was flac cut off at 16khz all other readings on frequency analysis were a match to mp3
so just bloated the mp3 at least some have had a bit of work to give them some extra frequency where they've got it from I don't know if it's not there to start with which maybe how they're getting the extra time something they've added from else where

It is easy to join audio tracks together then split them again. That's how you get different track times.

I wasn't too keen on the artwork when I downloaded the files originally so I made my own.
