Hi all,

I’m trying to track down a long-lost radio interview with David Bowie and Tony Sales just prior to the release of Tin Machine II.

What I remember:

Broadcast via satellite from Paris to Melbourne, Australia and then beamed out live to the MCM Rocksat network.

Hosted by Kevin Hillier

Run out of a radio station on St Kilda Road (Melbourne)

Included fan call-ins — I actually went to the station and got to ask the first question, pretending to call in from Perth

After the broadcast ended (off-air), there were still a few minutes of satellite time remaining and the announcer asked a favour. Could David please wish their receptionist who was a big Bowie fan a happy birthday for Monday when she came back into work...  Bowie and Tony jokingly sang Happy Birthday to the station receptionist and made up a surreal story about her winning a trip to Paris for an “International Pencil Sharpeners Convention” — that part wasn’t broadcast, but it’s a detail I’ll never forget.

So far, nothing.

Does anyone remember this broadcast — or have a recording (DAT, cassette, reel, or digital rip), or even a confirmed date/station name/show title?

Even a small lead would be hugely appreciated.
