Hi everyone.

I have a question—hopefully, someone else shares my curiosity about this. The soundtrack to the movie *Labyrinth* contains some hidden gems.

I’ve been looking, but I can’t find any performances of those compositions by David Bowie anywhere.

Some online discussions mention that he used them as opening tracks at certain concerts—instead of his usual intros—but I haven't been able to find anything.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

I believe, as the copyright was not only his, he was not allowed to perform that songs in concerts.

as far as i know there are no live versions. there is a demo of chill down. and thats about it.
But i could be off.

Thanks, everyone.

The idea that the lack of live performances of those songs is due to rights issues is a brilliant one.
I somewhat doubt DB cared all that much, though; the songs from the movie *Absolute Beginners* also belong to Jones, yet he did play them at many concerts.

And you're right—"Ballhaus" isn't just a hidden gem; it's a cult masterpiece.


P.D. I'll look for that "Chill Down" demo. ;)

That version of "Chilly Down" is really interesting.

It sounds much more like DB than the soundtrack version, which sounds more like Trevor Jones...

On the 2017 vinyl reissue, "Magic Dance" has been edited down to 4:13

got in touch.......

It was sung by actors Charles Augins, Richard Bodkin, Kevin Clash (Elmo !),
and Danny John-Jules, who voiced the Fire Gang creatures – also known as the Fireys – in the film.

In return: the introductory dialogue in the song "Magic Dance" is a copy.

David Bowie and Jim Henson lifted it from a Cary Grant movie "The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer (1947)"

I had always thought that all the songs on *Outside* stemmed from the inspiration DB found while visiting that Austrian psychiatric hospital

(*Outside* is one of my favorite—and most butchered—albums; I’m still waiting for that promised three-disc version). But I see I was mistaken.

"Strangers," as you say, comes from that film—and from a time well before *Outside*.

is Leon "cut down /remixed & re-recorded"
there's out-takes from
both

they recorded 5 'cycles'
2 were wiped
all 3 left are unreleased

the 1st Suites bootleg is supposedly not - remastered by bootleggers
i've rips of 5
or is it 6
somewhere
two have the Same Name but one is not edited
the other Version - has the tracks top & tail faded and trimmed

Brian Eno's name is nowhere
they are all fan/bootleggers guess work

with a nice cover

Disco King has been on the back ring at one for ages
