I came across this comment when randomly searching for his height:

I've personally always thought it was "suspicious" when he released The Next Day out of nowhere and still avoiding any interviews at all.

In a sense I do understand him avoiding the spotlight because that'd be quite energy draining and whatnot. But still y'know?

But I would also understand him just wanting to focus on the music if he knew he had cancer (And it doesn't feel like he'd want to do any interview lying that "He's fine but needed a break" or something like that)

Reports say he was officially diagnosed in 2014 but when I read that I always thought it felt like he passed away from it really quickly even for liver cancer:

http://www.cancer.org/cancer/livercancer/detailedguide/liver-cancer-survival-rates

Could it be that he was actually diagnosed in early 2012 but got the confirmation that it was terminal in Mid-2014? (Or maybe it's instantly informed as terminal?)

Edit: Removed [IMG] tags, also I'm aware there were lots of rumors when he was in "hiding".

Think you could be right Just reading what you've got without looking at the articles
watched my Grandfather slowly worsen first with treatment tried for a couple of years then told it was terminal and wasn't long and he'd passed he helped it they were keeping him alive and he'd pull the drips out and asking to be let die but they can't do that

can remember seeing some pics of Bowie since The Next Day thinking he's looking a bit sick
but when I seen one at Theatre of Lazarus Auditions or rehearsals with black Jersey with a silver feather? on it remember saying to my Mother looks like looking at a corpse (just thinking he's showing his age)

'Where are we now' as we all know is a song of reflection, awareness of cancer was definite at this point I believe.

i was re-reading jerry hopkins' book: 'bowie' a few weeks back. angie was quoted as saying he was smoking 4 packs a day during his berlin period. she also said every time she saw him in berlin, bowie was either drunk or working on getting drunk. makes me think 'blackout' was really his heart attack song - even though he was checked out in the hospital with a clean bill of health -

i know he cleaned up totally when he met iman, but i really believe the die was cast ...

-A-

p.s. 2016 was a tough year for me - losing bowie and then my mother. i feel the proverbial 'rug was pulled out from me'

I do think it was sort of sad to see Visconti being the messenger for Bowie. He used to have such amazing insightful and fun interviews so I'm always sad when I think back that even though we were blessed with receiving two albums towards the end I'd love to hear what the man would have to say just in general. Even an interview where he told beforehand what topics he wouldn't discuss would be fine.
