I tried and deleted 6 programmes to Convert MKV to Dvd Files.
The one that worked perfect for me on Windows 10 developer was Freemake Video Converter.
I like hard copies of Bowie.  :D

I've been using "Any Video Converter" which I downloaded free ages ago from www.download.cnet.com, it has a bunch of presets including PAL/NTSC DVD. I used it to drop the HD Montreux video, "DB Is Happening Now" and a bunch of others recently to give DVD copies to a luddite friend of mine, worked fine. It also rips certain web based videos as well.

Having said that it can be fiddly with MKV files but I have had success with it.

Thank You both 4 ur advice.
I guess i downgrade these files to dvd because of my out of date equipment, now i only have one hdmi lcd monitor connected to a HD laptop i fixed up for my internet (75GB/2GB Ram), which when my son was here i made a audio cable to my power amp and speakers, but what crap sound from a headphone jack > amp.
So when i have my musical soirée's that involve liquor and loud music, i can play cd's, dvd's, dvdr- etc on one of two players with good cables > amp > esm speakers.
My fav is my Sony player that is quite fussy when it comes to burnt stuff, but sounds superb thru a digital cable, it has a toslink cable also but that doesn't sound as good to me.
Sadly the monitor for this doesn't have hdmi, so RGB is the best, second s video cable (yes it is quite old).
Don't get me going on the subs, or the Yamaha amp, which has a leaking capacitor, causing the unit to go into safety shutdown mode, so i leave it on all the time, and my Bowie mate came around to view Bowie @ BBC ( which he said he preferred to The Last Five Years).
He bloody powered the amp down !.
But after dragging an old 2 channel Yam power amp out installing it, then trying random buttons on the more modern amp, got it powered up again, have now made a big warning sign on it.

I did have another Panasonic lcd with no pedestal then my cat let a mouse go in the house, u can guess the rest the lcd ended up in a skip.

So yeah it's life on the edge my end, but is all in the cabling bro/bro-ettes.   :D  :(

You do not need to downgrade to DVD!!
Almost all modern Blu-ray & most DVD players will also handle file based playback from ROM disc or even from a USB drive attached. Even the cheap ones will usually do this.
Leave the films as they are - see if your set top will read them. If it will not, break out it's manual & see what it will play. There are enough cheap or free video converters out there. Personally I would drop them into Premiere Pro CC, interpret the footage correctly & run an MP4 H264 file with quicktime flags enabled too. Simples. No degradation necessary - re-encode in same quality (ie rewrap it) so no generational loss. This is a trick we use in Post Production all the time.

I now have my Oppo BDP-105 set up to decode everything internally, running dedicated 2-channel balanced analogue out as well as 6-channel RCA analogue for surround titles into a power amplifier with the video going directly to the display over HDMI. Works a treat off of USB3 HDD drives so am currently backing everything up to FLAC stereo on one & FLAC 5.1 on the other, with all video on a third. Gradually ripping all DVD and dumping the rips straight to an MP4 re-wrap with zero quality drop as there is no re-encoding going on. It's the only way to fly!

Going in the reverse direction DVD to MKV there is an excellent free converter called 'MAKE MKV' it's a 30 day trial app you have to re-new every 30 days but no limit on how many times you renew.
Converts Video_TS folders from the HDD as well as dVD discs.

Well worth a try if you are into that sort of stuff.

I use MakeMKV and it's companion, MKVToolNix (in Ubuntu) on a near daily basis. Almost everything in my torrent folder is DVD, for the people on this site, but the stuff in my collection is all MKV (H.264) / FLAC. Oh, and the Linux version of MakeMKV isn't a trial. It's just free.

Don't get me wrong though - I still think for myself that replicated content is king.

Othetwise, you can try Virtual Dub, some settings are quite hard to select but the result is absolutly great.
You can convert to MPEG or in ISO to burn a direct DVD (conversion can be long).

If you need to change the container only (so MKV with H264 to MP4), I recommend Subler. You should always try this as a first option, as it doesn't require re-encoding. This means there's no quality loss and no endless waiting for a conversion.

For DVD rips to MP4, nothing beats Handbrake. If you don't mind paying for software, iFFMeg is a great option as well.
