Neil, I read somewhere in an interview with a record company person that the material left behind would take at least a year to sort through, there was a lot of it and Bowie had written notes on every thing, maybe one of those mysterious companies in his will Possum inc. was set up with the intention of marketing this material.  For the time being if people are stupid enough to rush out and buy multiple variations of NO plan etc, then all the good stuff will be put on hold. The truth is a great majority of Bowie fans are not getting any younger so the sooner they start to release material from the archive the better for all.

Apologies for the problem with the link but my website can be found at http://www.theyoungamerican.co.uk/ and from the menu page select the Sigma Sound Sessions link. Within that page there are other links which explain how Drexel University ended up with the tapes.

When Sigma Sound closed the whole of its tape archive was destined to be transferred to Drexel but one or two reels disappeared along the way. The reels offered for sale on eBay some years ago were eventually surrendered to Drexel. However, there is still one Bowie reel unaccounted for.

Like Nick, I also read through the posts on the Steve Hoffman forum and concluded that it was a certain individual fishing for information, hence my original post above.

Hi. That's my site. The company hosting it have transferred their business to another company. Somewhere between the two it seems to have disappeared! I've been on to the technical support of both and am hoping to get it back up and running again soon...

I'm pleased to say that my website is back up and running. Unfortunately, the video links don't currently work but I'll hopefully sort that out over the next day or so... http://www.theyoungamerican.co.uk

Just going back to the original post of this extremely interesting/theorising set of conversations, Lazer/Laser which ever way you wish to spell it, "Laser" as I am English,is an early version Of "Scream Like A Baby";) and a full version is on the bootleg "Fresh from Divorce".

I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring.

Managed to find a version of "Lazer" on an Ava Cherry & the Astronettes CD as a hidden track.
Trouble ripping this though, as it is only accessible by starting track 01 and rewinding, as the marker is not there and inaccessible any other way.
I will re-record it over analogue outs from my player & check to see if it really is the Bowie version.

@portlandbill - this version also appears to be on both "Glamour" and "Monsters to Ashes" boots as well. Have silvers of both these.

Also fully agree the site is very good & informative too - makes a change after all the nonsense spouted about these sessions.

It is possible to rip such "hidden" tracks with Exact Audio Copy. Have a look here on how to do that : http://web.archive.org/web/20130529085310/http://blowfish.be/eac/Rip/rip11-hidden.html .
Unfortunately, this is hardware-dependent, and not all drives support this. Fingers crossed!
