Hi guys
hope someone can help.
just discovered an mp3 file simply called 'david-bowie' on my hard drive. 2.72meg file created march 2016 (so if that's when I downloaded it..or transferred from another drive?? not sure).

i don't use many sites to download from, so suspect it could well be BowieStation.

Its a very rough demo/jam/rehearsal, lasting 2 mins 22sec sounds like a mic in an open room. the band has the Space oddity album 'feel' about it.

it's a 2 chord shifter, plenty or jingly arpeggios guitar /keys with distant trippy type vocals someway off in the distance. No chance with the lyrics with my ears...but there's a line repeated at the end of one verse "ain't no <???> in my world";)

anyone any idea - I know I haven't uncovered anything special - i will have simply downloaded it from a site myself - but it hasn't had any other files than the 2.72meg mp3 music file.

Can't remember that going round now, although I obviously downloaded it.
Guess there's no way of telling for sure (unless some guilty perpetrator coughs up), but the fact that it took so long to get 'uncovered' and hitherto not get mentioned in N Pegg's bible, etc, etc maybe suggests it's not what it says on the tin!

and the (lack of ) quality of the sound is self-fulfilling - if you want to be believe it is genuine, then it could be, if you don't - then it probably isn't!!

at least I didn't make an arse of myself for getting the period completely wrong!! ha ha, phew.

thanks again, at least I can label the mp3 file now and stick back in the corner of the hard drive again

Aye, tell me about it. I live down in Yorkshire now, but I relish looking out the train window at that 'avatar'on the way to the match every fortnight. (My Mecca). Howay the Toon.

(for the record, I had the Angel of the North as my avatar on the previous website, for the same reasons)

this do NOT sound live bowie at all, not on vocal anyway

Don't believe the guy who put it out there ever claimed it had Bowie on vocals - check the story.  Studio engineer, claiming he got David to play drums (sic) on his song, with a bit of backing vox as well.

There was quite a discussion of this on Illustrated Discography.  Nobody, but nobody, thought there was anything credible about it!
