Hello all. I'm trying to find out if anyone here purchased this collection of 2for1 cd's of the catalog. They were released back around 2000 or so. They were sold on Ebay from a Russian grey market type label Cd-Maximum. They had a lot of major artists catalogs (Beatles, Stones,Bowie, Sabbath etc.)

They are of course now out of print(illegal to sell). My question is does anyone know what the cd's were sourced from? Were they copied from the 1980's RCA releases,the Rykos,the Virgins? Anyone have any experience with these? They looked like this:

Looking on Discogs the David Live disc has the Ryko bonus tracks on it, so my guess is that some of the the RCA era albums were sourced from Ryko CDs (the live ones) and the studio albums were from the 1999 issues.

BTWN has Lucy Can't Dance on it, so its from the original 1993 CD.

The Pinups CD has the same colouring as the 1999 issue.

I've heard the sets (from the same label)of T.Rex, Slade, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. They all copied the original 80's cd releases(no loudness, compression, equalization). Just flat transfers. So I was hoping their Bowie cd's would be the 80's RCA versions. It would be a cheaper way to find them all if I could hunt them down eventually. I tried to find samples on the net but no luck. I own the Rykos and Virgins so if I could just hear one or two I would know immediately what version was used.

I have a few Russian CD sets (pirates actually). They are;

Greatest Hits Part 1 (2CD)
Basically The Best Of 1969-1974 and 1974-1979 shuffled around minus Fame.

Greatest Hits Part 2 (2CD)
Disc 1 is The Best Of 1980-1987 plus Fame 90 but minus The Drowned Girl.
Disc 2 is a compilation of tracks from 1989-2003
