I know it's not a boot, but I've only just become aware of this:

Fabulous comp, and it seems to confirm "Wagon Wheel" was written by Bowie

Hmmm. Strange. It's credited on Transformer to Lou, though it was arranged by Lou, David and Mick and all three are all over it.

I read on another forum that it was a Reed/Bowie co write, but if you squint hard enough it could be a Bowie/Ronson collaboration.

Having trawled through numerous VU demo collections, it's not a Velvets era song......

No, not Velvets era, though it does have the same general feel as some late VU songs (written by Lou) like Head Held High or Train Round the Bend. Hard to say. I can hear Lou in it, but then, I can hear David in it too.

I believe so too, though just like the rest of the album, David and Mick are all over the arrangements (Lou too).

Not really. He was credited as the sole writer since the album came out. It's only now questioned and I'm now seeing writing credits as Lou/David. Either way, Lou had the sole credit (and therefore the royalties) for nearly 50 years.

Wouldn't agree with that, being a songwriter myself, but there you go.

If you check the "Slaughter re issue on CD, it would appear the writing credits have been adjusted on that too......
