What is the best show in terms of sound quality? I thought there would be an official release this year for the 30th anniversary.
It has always been a favorite of mine.

There's a lot of soundboard shows of this tour.
My favs are Tokyo (16/05) and Milton Keynes

There are a few good quality recordings, Tokyo and Milton Keynes for example. However, his voice was terrible and I'm not a fan of the arrangements, so I'm glad there isn't an official cash cow issue of this tour.

I really enjoyed the shows I saw in Tinley Park, IL., I’m just the opposite, he really only did the greatest hits tour once as opposed to other performers, In that respect, it’s unique. I would welcome an official release with both audio and video.

There are so many different version of Tokyo and Milton Keynes. What would one consider to be the best in terms of sound quality for each show? Thanks to everyone responding, it is much appreciated.

The Master Reels version of Tokyo has one of the best sound quality: https://www.bowiestation.com/torrents-details.php?id=2730

My other favourite is the Wardour version of the Montreal concert: https://www.bowiestation.com/torrents-details.php?id=2970

I know it's blowing my own trumpet, but I do recommend - https://www.bowiestation.com/torrents-details.php?id=800 - the audio is in there, as well as the DVD.

Don't blame me, I didn't do it!

The song arrangements weren't great tbh , the band wasn't great either. The sound is weedy on the soundboards i've heard .Allegedly it wasn't a happy tour for DB by the end either as he wasn't getting on with the other musicians . Rick Fox is quoted as saying he almost left the tour as he wasn't enjoying it. Low points included frustration by DB at the Portugal gig ,a fall out with Erdal Kizilcay after one particular gig and the st list being cropped at some gigs due to voice problems It was easily the least memorable tour I watched him on. The tour was sold to the fans on the premise that the hits were never to be played again , which on hindsight was a weak piece of marketing to get the fans to buy tickets (only my opinion)

Interesting, do you think because of all that, there won’t be an official release?

I have no doubt whatsoever that it will crop up eventually. You cannot possibly think that Parlophone would pass up an opportunity to pick our pockets again, surely?

It's not a great tour, not great shows either. I was at the MK Bowl shows and was frankly underwhelmed - Serious Moonlight was definitely better than S+V but it has to be said S+V was better than Glass Spider.....the 80's were funny/strange times in hindsight.
What gets me with the S+V tour recordings is how bland most of them are - it is as if nobody really wanted to be doing this and were simply going through the motions.
Oh well - they are what they are, I guess.

We were at Docklands - great setlist, annoying guitar-wankery from Below.  Just feels like there's probably no great demand for an S+V official release, even by Parlophone's standards.

FWIW, I fully agree.
What would be nice is a decent official version of the 50th Birthday Show though.....

The interesting thing about Tokyo is that the Master Reels seems to have studio overdubs, at least Ashes To Ashes does.

A comparison (In Dome first, then Master Reels):

Those shows were great to watch as a spectacle at the time live, but are excruciating to listen back to now. Bowie said at the time he was going to 'kill off' his well known hits...well Adrian Belew certainly did that for him. Absolutely awful listening back to it now - every solo whether the intro, the middle or the play out was the same...on every song. Usually totally inappropriate to the track.

It's not just a matter of taste..go back and listen to these shows at how many missed cues there are during songs....and they're always after a guitar solo has finished..or not finished when it should have as the case may be. Just a load of indiscriminate noise..how could the band/singer tell when to come back in??

Shame really as DB had Carlos and Frampton on the previous tour and I can't imagine how much better this tour would have sounded if he's used those two again.

As it happens I thought his vocals were pretty good that tour, when his throat allowed him (can't say the same for the sax though!). Could have done without the odd political rant as well...that's not really 'him' live...probably indicative of the mood of the tour I guess.

no chance of me buying any expensive official retro release for this tour....!

Belew is an amazing guitarist but he just didn't fit with that band. He and Bowie have/had such chemistry together but the rest of the band... sucked
