The wow/flutter is an artifact of C120 tapes, which were always too thin and stretched relatively easily. They were never recommended for music use because of this.

Woooahh  ... finally got through listening to the entire download.

I did delete some bits which didn't fit my personal taste (not without trying at least some listening first). On that note, I almost felt ill listening to Sparks at first, but even before they got to 'Amateur Hour', a song I remembered long ago thinking wasn't bad, I began to see / hear what they were about a little more. Always thought This Town Ain't Big Enough for the Both of Us was a great composition, and respect to them for their brilliant little performance of it at a London station that went a bit viral a few months back. Anyway, their little show became a keeper.

Re those where the sound quality spoilt it - these were in the minority. About 60% or more of the broadcasts are in stereo. Most of those that are mono are still clear. Wow and flutter blights some recordings, but in many cases a song or two was spoilt by this, but others less so, and the power of the band's performance and the capture itself meant that minor blemishes were rendered unimportant by what matters, the music.

The Bowie set, by the way, is not as stellar sound quality as the 'His Master's Voice / Live in London July 3, 1973' original bootleg LP, but better than the other FM tape of it that also included Ziggy Stardust and Width of a Circle (I did eventually find an old download / fileset of the latter that I had).

Many pleasant surprises / new finds, some of which were bands I knew of and already appreciated but found out how good they could be live, others got the feeling, should have heard this before!

Chuck Berry (great live sets here, despite his reputation as a very variable live performer due to using pick up bands / changing keys etc without warning)

It's worth noting that in some cases those above I had heard of, but been put off by lukewarm / dismissive comments about them, and/or my own musical prejudices. Nice to be challenged and proved wrong sometimes :).

I see now that 120s were used more than once, thing is only folder 18 and a couple of others were badly affected by wow and flutter at least to the point of a lot of said folder of recordings being insufferable.

I am often very fussy about that, but I often notice it affects even high quality-ish recordings - and often in that case I think it's more to do with the technology used overall than old 120 tapes. Sometimes even a singer with a good voice cannot hold a note steadily which can sound a bit like wow and flutter to fussy ears! Overall on these tapes the majority were not ruined by this issue to my ears anyway, and I often habitually delete recordings which suffer from it.

I recall back in the day that C120 were too thin and prone to stretching, and that either C60 or C90 were the way forwards for music or critical recordings.

Agree totally with the above - I remember that too. Thing is, while the use of 120 tapes in the recordings here doubtlessly contributed to wow and flutter issues, thankfully it didn't thwart the majority of said recordings.  :)

My copy was claiming that the 2nd part of 'Width Of A Circle' is 'Queen Bitch'
It's still a butchered version though as the full length track should be 15:45 run time, not just over 11 minutes. I'm trying to put together a decent Blu-ray of this show but sorting out the large number of different versions out there is making it a hard task
