It would depend on what quality you wanted. Downgrading it will make it worse IMHO.

It can be made a lot smaller without any noticeable loss in quality. I can do it if I get the time. Let me know if you'd prefer mkv or mp4 format. Just don't ask me to convert it to DVD format : )

In any case, I shall be ripping it to mkv. I just tried a mp4 encode but it was still too big (and it took hours to encode).
You can use VLC to play mkv files on a Mac.

Thanks for the conversion, I do use VLC it's the best video player I've used on my Mac!

Have you tried mkv files with your dvd player? I chose my Samsung TV precisely because it can play mkv files from a USB drive (and most other formats too).

Yes I did, unfortunately the Pioneer all-region player I have will play just about all formats except mkv  :-(
