Bowie re-recorded three of his old songs:

Space Oddity
Panic In Detroit
Rebel Rebel

Is Rebel Rebel unreleased? Does anybody have a copy of it?

cheers

If it exists (which I doubt) and was available to someone here, it would already here to be found in one of the many outtakes and demoes torrents.
What is your source? Clearly no Pegg

Nacho.

He know what he is on about

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63qvJoQLumw

"The recording session happened in September 1979, at Tony Visconti’s Good Earth Studios in Soho, London.

Three songs were recorded:

Space Oddity
Panic In Detroit
Rebel Rebel

Space Oddity was released as the B-side of Alabama Song, on the 15 February 1980.

Panic in Detroit eventually surfaced as a bonus track on the 1992 Ryko re-issue of the Scary Monsters CD.

Rebel Rebel remains unreleased."

Interestingly enough, the re-recorded 'Space Oddity' got it's premiere on 'The Kenny Everett Television Show' - not sure the video still exists though, but if anyone knows Nacho will.

I have a hunch that this is the same version that was released as a bonus on Reality and I'm not talking about the recording of the vocals and instruments but the arrangements and type of vocals used
this would explain the total omission of this track in any format

The version released as reality bonus sounds like a year 2000 production and not like a 1980 production.

Personally i allways found the reality b sides to some of the worst Bowie releases. Glad the quality of his last two albums were a huge improvement

that doesn't sound like 1979 Bowie to me;

also, the arrangements of Space Oddity and Panic In Detroit are very characteristic - stripped back, a bit brutal and almost acoustic; I would expect the recording of Rebel Rebel to sound similar

September 79

He used a four piece band, very different sound compared to the 1980 recording of Scary Monsters.

The video for Space Oddity was officially released on the Kenny Everett Television Show box set a few years ago.  Boys Keep Swinging also.
