Clearer sound but one of the L/R channels was way louder than the other.
I bumped the volume on one of them and they sounded way better.

There is new information on this subject.
The first is that the boxset with 8 golden CDs has nothing to do with this subject, they are different things.
In a Facebook group and on the Bowie Wonderworld forum, a fan found out about a double CD with never released songs and this is part of the 8 CD collection.
This material is not for sale on ebay or is detailed on any website and as the book Spider with the Platinum Hais informs, it is part of a private release of cdr's with songs vetoed by David and in the rykodisc vaults in the 90s.
Below I will leave the description of the bww forum and the list of songs of the 2 cds that are with a collector. He only has these 2 but there are 8 as he knows and I will say but once they are not the au20 cds.
"I met a guy in the 90s who did bootleg CDs and he had a friend who worked at RYKO[.] I was supposed to get more but I lost touch with him so there may actually be 8 CDs[.] He was very adamant about only trading and made me promise not to make copies."

I expect Dreamstones may have had it but was warned not to share it if they wanted any more swapsies / rare Bowie again. Sort of understandable.

Wow, that gives me hope that Diamond Dogs can in fact be issued as a deluxe edition some day.

That plus the Eva Cherry (vocal) version of Sweet Thing (produced by Bowie) will be great.

I only brought the information I read and I have not heard any of these versions, nor do I own them.
From what I know there are 8 cdrs with some fans and this other one was kind enough to detail the material on the 2 cds that he got from a guy who had access to a ryko employee and made him promise not to share.
This post here on this site is very old and until now no one had brought anything concrete and what most happened was trying to divert the subject to the boxset with 8 AU CDs or trying to change the subject to CDs with BBC material.
I wonder what is the interest in this, diverting the focus or people who have and don't even want there to be details about the recordings?

It's actually quite simple to understand.
A fan to get a certain kind of material
talks to the right people and often pay for something that does not comply with the "quality control" of Mr Bowie's and his subjects.
I don't see any problem with that, but I find it a bit ridiculous when someone brings information, which in this case doesn't come from a rumor, but from someone who heard these songs and wrote them in their book and some people keep talking about songs from the BBC or golden CDs to change the matter.
I'm also not bringing anything from my mind but from what I read on another forum and on Facebook.
And as for sharing these songs, unless they come out officially, I doubt people will.
If they don't want us to know what's on the 8 CDs, imagine we listen

There IS a 10 CD's worth set of Lennon out-takes ont' web.
There's Stones ones of equal length for a lot of their albums.
There's inner circles of uber fans of almost ever pop star.
Without any evidence ie files - it's just A Rumour.

To this day, there are people who doubt that things like Ernie Johnson are in the hands of some fans.
It's more honest to say that you doubt it than to say that this is something else, a set of golden CDs
