I am really supremely pissed that I missed this one on release, but nobody mentioned it.
If anyone has a copy I could blag from them - ideally I would buy it off you but a rip will be perfectly splendid:

SCARY MONSTER RECORDING SESSIONS (Wonderland 4CD long box)

Various outtakes, mixes, and promotional material from the Scary Monsters album in 1979-1980

I have no clue what is included, as like I said - I missed this as I did not know about it.
No way it will be offered for torrent here as there is almost certainly official material on this one, but I really want a copy and hope someone can help me out

I have long since stopped believing almost anything at all on YouTube these days as it is not what it used to be. Disagree with any of the lefty snowflake BS and you get cancelled. Freedom of speech is gone (probably forever) as you can only have free speech if you are one of the said lefty snowflake BS artists. Nobody else is allowed an opinion.

All of which is irrelevant - absolutely irrelevant - here, but I needed to get it out of my system.

I'm not listening. "blah, blah, blah," he said, with fingers in ears.

~~ Lefty Snowflake.

Oh shit, I just replied to a cancelled former person... I'll get this right one of these days. I mean correct. Not right, correct.

...and then my mind split open.

@Diedrich - I didn't get your email. It must have slipped into spam again (Gmail keeps pulling this crap on me) so if you could please resend I will look out for it & despam you - again.

I like it, I must say.
It's an interesting compilation - and whilst we do indeed already have most of it, we certainly didn't have it all in one place before.
CD01 gives us the currently available album in it's currently approved remastered form. Then there are  some extras - a sort of 'Q&A' but without the 'Q', taken from a 12" promo version. Next up is an 11:30 'ultra extended version' that might be some form of 12" club type remix or it may of course be a fake. I don't know, but if it is a fake then I have no quarrel with it as that would make it a proper tribute because it is not 'claimed' by anybody. Final track can be skipped unless you dig interviews.

CD02 is the so-called 'Alternate Album & Bonus Tracks' disc.
There's not really anything that leaps out at me as previously unavailable. There are the various early versions, alternate mixes and alternate take versions we have seen on 'Glamour', 'Fresh From Divorce' or 'Vampires Of Human Flesh' to name but 3 and I also suspect the source used as the primary one to be the 'Studio Reel > DAT' dump. At least it shows the compilers have taste & picked the best versions, I suppose.

CD03 is dubbed 'Super Creeps Rarities' which I think given what is included should see them up for false advertising! We have - in this order - just the following:
Scary Monsters (single mix)
Ashes To Ashes (acapella version) - probably nicked from one of the 'Rock Star' console games.
Ashes To Ashes (municipal extended edit) - why are the Council remixing Bowie tracks then?
Space Oddity Ashes To Ashes 12" promo version - Why? I mean, why?, FFS!
Alabama Song (UK single A-side) - yep, really pulling out the 'rarities' here.
Life On Mars & Ashes To Ashes - from....The Tonight Show (for the umpteenth time on bootleg)
Finally we get a 1980 interview.
Rarities? Seriously?

CD04 is just 2 radio specials. Not too sure exactly what that means as yet as I have not played them yet. All the artwork & booklet tells us is that the first one is a 'Scary Monsters radio special' and that the second one is a 'radio interview' and closer examination of the file name tells us it is from 1980 - seems about right, given the box content.

So in summary, even knowing what I know now - would I buy this box if it came up at a sensible price? Yes, I would. It would be a worthwhile addition to my silvers collection, and I like these editions where we get a decent amount of content that is worth having all in one place. With editions like these you take a risk each & every time - I have been caught out on many occasions with a flush looking advertising campaign across 3 formats (vinyl, CD & DVD) it turned out to be up there with the worst sounding bootlegs ever and the worst version of the show in question bar none at all.
I wonder if anyone could name it - or if I would need to provide additional clues? Let me know.....

But back on topic, this set is on the whole well worth tracking yourself down a copy of.

That Space Oddity/Ashes 12" mix is real - I used to have a copy of the US promo.  It's hardly rocket science, but for the completist, I assume it should be on the list.

I guess so - but my thoughts on that were 'why' as opposed to 'fake'.
The one that might be phoney is the 11.30 'ultra extended version' of 'Ashes' but there are so many different run lengths for this it is just not funny:
There are at least the 3:39 (single mix) & a 4:25 'album version' and then the various extended versions here - sadly I don't have any of the Scary Monsters 12" versions to check against - these went (along with over 2,000 albums & 5,000 singles) back on the mid 1980's when I was burgled.

I'm not any sort of 'lefty snowflake' - whatever that is ?
The track list just reads like it's been cobbled together from vinyl rips and probably ones taken from YouTube.
Still, the box does look nice.

They are white, individual but tiny and disappear in an instant.
As for 'WHY'...
I used to post about Bowie Bog Roll until someone also posted a real photo of one with Blackstar 'stars' on it.
Elvis is English.
But not for tax purposes.

Inspired by the Scary Monsters compilation I’m working on personal ‘deluxe’ versions of as many Bowie studio albums as possible (the Berlin trilogy will be a challenge!).  I’ve just finished a 2CD set for Aladdin Sane tracklisting via following link

https://mega.nz/file/97YmRBhR#uUO3bn7gQT4AXSDVjR9xIev4e2lvvE5XmwLl22ybS-o

Not for sharing obviously because of the amount of official content but I’d be interested in what people think and on thoughts on for content for other 'deluxe' versions.
