It has recently been announced that The Traders Den will shut down by the end of the month, unless somebody is willing to take over the site.

I remember new sources for Bowie shows occasionally appearing on TTD. Perhaps it's worthwhile to search that site for any unique recordings and upload them here so they can live on. I'll try doing that myself but somebody else to help would be nice in case I miss anything.

That is a shame I have donated over there on a few occasions.

There are about 180 Bowie titles on there, I'm on holiday from tomorrow so I can't check them.

I would suggest there are many if not all on this site anyway, but would be nice if someone could check

I am sad but far from surprised, as I know full well the trouble that these sites are having staying up - the fees keep rising, yet the donations are usually pitifully small and rare, with a very high percentage of site users who just take, take & take some more and never give anything back.

The announcement's similar to the message on Bootlegzone (which has been down since November 2020).  Standards for the software to host on the web, particularly if there's a database behind it, move on through time - but none of these sites have a team of web architects and coders behind them, just enthusiastic amateurs who do it all in their own time.  18 years is a good run - well done TTD just for surviving!

Looks like their tracker is already having a tough time. I'm not able to download anything, rtorrent just keeps saying this :

Seems like some freaky corruption in the returned data, for example "2500(5:peers" should be "2500e5:peers". No wonder the clients can't parse that.

I also get errors but less descriptive error messages with uTorrent 1.6.1 and 3.5.5, as well as Transmission.

Will let these torrents run as long as the tracker responds but not getting my hopes up...

The Trader's Den is NOT closing after all (though there are still intermittent errors with the forum and the tracker.)

A guy named Bradley has taken over as administrator and reckons he has the techie knowledge to straighten out the issues.

Try logging in again - it's more stable recently  :D

Yes, I updated the original post with the information at the time when it was announced.

I also managed to finally download almost all Bowie torrents which were available at TTD around the 19th of September - 160 torrents in total. Still need to go through all of them and cross-check with BowieStation to figure out which ones aren't available here. Seeing how TTD doesn't seem to be going anywhere after all, there's no real rush so I haven't started yet.

If anyone had totally given up on this site, after day after day trying to get it to load - it's there.

And has been for months it seems.

Hiding.

Still working back my way through December currently, working at what seeds of interest I've missed (and no, don't think I noticed any notable Bowie, apart from the FM broadcast of MK 1990 which has been on Dime - I know people like different versions of certain things, but even for me, there are limits :) ).
