Ironically the live album he co-produced for Iggy TV Eye has bags of grit and atmosphere, especially the tracks from the Kansas gig. it's a personal fave. "C'mon Bitch!"
i Wish Oi Vey Baby had been recorded like that!

just to muddy the waters even more Japanese bootleggers are putting out AI "remixes" of Hammersmith 73 created from fake stems now
of course thats not how they describe it

didn't know the 2002 CD + DVD were different mixes, good info

we've had some decent posthumous live releases at least. "I'm only Dancing" is everything David Live isn't and its done like a bootleg.

Cracked Actor almost nails it but loses points for chopping out David's Italian accent

Alive & Well.com - Good Job Reeves!

Dallas 95,  it was shoddy to chop out the duets with NIN instead of paying to license them but whats actually on the disc is brilliant, a  magnificent live band, killer setlist

It was a really cool thing Robin Mayhew did selling those cdrs
and i am grateful but the pitch issues make it more of a reference source than a favourite listen

Its quite shocking to hear the wild sax on the final songs that got cut

I think it's an issue with all artists not just Bowie, take Pete Townshend re-recording backing vocals for the live at leeds album, Bowie & Visconti replacing the missing BVs on David Live

missing BVs are trivial to me, unless they were the Sales Brothers' BVs perhaps
but to artists these missing BVs  and other bits are apparently like a stone in their shoes, a real irritant that they can't leave alone. go figure!

I'm more forgiving of overdubs in the classic rock era now i know how expensive and complicated it was to record a gig, if something went wrong you couldn't just tape the next night
you had to get the pye mobile recording van out and lay down cables..

removing pops, bangs and wolf-whistle guy or gal
i'm all for
maybe mic drops too [they were singing etc...?]
but replacing vocals etc is the way of 'the remix'
and
should say so
that's why i'd LOVE to hear the sound in-the-hall of Bill Withers at Carnegie Hall

there's a string section that sonically appears from nowhere

What do we know about the alleged "Italian broadcast"?

I know that this has been rumoured for years and that the 2DVD boot set mentions it, and that the (different) 1VHS Live in London purports to be from Italy and that the Round & Round video had to come from somewhere, but I have never been able to confirm it (and I tried doing so on an Italian Bowie site).

It's been 50 years now and we need to separate rumours from confirmed facts.

BTW, when was the earliest anyone saw the (poor quality) Round & Round video?
FWIW, I saw it first as a "surprise bonus" shown after a 1982/83 screening of ZS:TMP.

The italian broadcast as been around for years and called 'a London boy' I think.

It cannot be uploaded here due to the official release, There is a DVD double bootleg called 'Beck Meets Ziggy' and recently another release on the Sound & Vision Archive Label.

"A London Boy" is the title of a VHS bootleg that purports to be from Italy.
It does not contain any of the Jeff Beck bits.

"Beck meets Ziggy" is indeed a 2DVD that has the poor quality beck bits on one of the DVDs, supposedly from the "Italian broadcast". Note that the rest of that same DVD is from a different (higher quality) source.

I have yet to come across anyone who claims to have watched that mythical "Italian broadcast".
Nor have I ever come across any details, such as when & by whom.

We know that there were a few public screenings before the official release of ZS:TMP (US colleges & Edinburgh Festival), so there were other possibilities for a leak of the Beck video.

Rumours & lies & stories we've made up are one thing, facts are another.
Let's not present statements as facts if we're not sure about them.

'Love Song' has a faked looped ending on a 'silver' bootleg
still wanna hear a rip of the us b&tb 12''= the other side  - it's just me
plus the often mentioned 'in house cd-r mixes' are all on my why-aren't-they-released list

isn't this new in-cinema version meant to be it finally complete ?

:-@

I'm a bit late to the party on this one but I do have the "Italian Broadcast" on a VHS tape which I acquired back in the 1980s from another collector. I haven't watched it since back then but I seem to recall that it was fairly good quality. The tape is in a box in the attic... I don't know if it has survived the years without oxidising but I'll dig it out sometime and report on its contents and condition.

That would be of interest to a good number of us I'd imagine.

So the so called 'Italian GVR' version was re-released either late last year or early this year as a part of a 4 disc collection, just had a look at this and it contains the full My Death intro & the Jeff beck part and it ends there about 60 minutes.

I've got it.
There is also a 2CD/DVD set on the Japanese 'Empress Valley' label with the DVD being the Italian version.
https://www.discogs.com/release/8333011-Ziggy-Stardust-And-The-Spiders-From-Mars-The-Last-Show-That-Well-Ever-Do
I'll check to see what the best version is.

Incidentally, on the 'Ziggy Stardust - The Last Show' set there is supposed to be an 'HD Remaster' of the full show, but it's from Japanese TV as it has Japanese subtitles burned into the video on the Dressing Room sections. Apart from that's its pretty good for DVD and also includes a short (5 minute) version of the BBC Nationwide footage with the Long version on disc 2 (A London Show)

Sadly, both versions only carry AC3 Stereo (why not PCM?) but the recent 2CD/2DVD edition is the cleanest looking and both are from the same source - VHS, with the recent one cleaned up, probably using something like https://www.topazlabs.com/topaz-video-ai
