I have. Sometimes it works, sometimes not so much. I haven't really paid any attention to just when it works/doesn't work.

...and then my mind split open.

Strangely enough, just press the quote button. Don't highlight any text, just press the button. If you see the quote in the box you're typing in, it worked. If not... read this again.

Weird!!

If I click "quote" on GoblinKing's last post it appears in the message box as a quote.
But it won't work on any other posts on this page.

Also, even weirder, if I hover my mouse over the "quote" button on MBF's empty posts I can see the original text in the status bar, I can copy it:

Quote:

javascript:SmileIT('[quote=MBF] Test only as the original posts by me seem to have vanished! +++++Just tried quoting toneblokes last post under inactive members and I couldn't use the quote button. It has worked previously (yesterday) but not today for me. I've logged out and come back in again but no luck.Weirdly, if I press it in this post it works

Quote:

test

but not elsewhere for me (I've just tried quoting davesloar's last post under Bowie Core Collection and it didn't work for me there either: http://www.bowiestation.com/TT2/forums.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=17.I'm using Win 7 and IE10. Anyone else come across this recently or is it just user error on my part?!? :DUpdate: just seen Dennis's message here which seems to point to the same or similar issue I've highlighted: Quote:

' target='_blank'>http://www.bowiestation.com/TT2/forums.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=31[quote] I still can't figure out the damn quote function. So much for know how. [quote]+++++

I just pressed the quote button about 10 times to quote Jimmy's post above me. Nothing happened.

So I pressed the quote button on the reply box, which gave me quote tags, and pasted in text from Jimmy's comment. That always works.

...and then my mind split open.

Not sure it's an apostrophe issue as I've just clicked on every post here and only these two quotes appeared.

As for my posts missing well I can't answer that. They just vanished after I tried to update the first one and the second one was exactly the same but again it didn't appear. Very strange...

They are the only two posts without apostrophes.

The text to quote is placed inside single quotes and sent to a javascript function, so the first apostrophe it comes across will close the quote but leave the rest of the text in limbo, so the javascript function will fail. Quite often the answer is to use two apostrophes, but I tried that and it does not work in this case.

Your empty posts seem to have text, it just is not displaying for some reason, and they all have apostrophes as well.

I would guess that this post will quote as I purposely avoided using them.

I think I might have the answer:

try setting ENT_QUOTES as a flag in "htmlspecialchars" in forums.php line 585

Well I've sussed out why your posts aren't displaying.

You have a line:

I still can't figure out the damn quote function. So much for know how.

I can't actually show you what is wrong because it won't let me, but you have started the line with an opening quote tag but also ended with an opening tag as well. (You can see it in my first post on this page) replace the last tag with a closing tag and it displays ok.
