I dont know a lot about seeding the torrents, until now it has not been a problem.

I am using Vuze.

I wanted to make sure the torrents from here was seeded from my computer, and thought it was very slow so I tried to increase the upload speed
Anyway the last days it has not seeded at all and I went tor the Vuze preferences and set the preferences to default, thinking that I might have messed something up.

Now it shows that most of the torrents have 0 peers
and 2 of them say 1st priority, in the same column as the peer info. they also has a blue head, that says: you are not connected to any peers.

Does someone here know what I have to do to start sharing again?

Best
MossGarden

I'm not sure if there is a problem with your seeding. I looked at all the torrents that you seed, but no one is downloading them at the moment.

Can you try down download one of the torrents that has leechers? Then you can see if others can connect to you.

Jan Erik

I will try that

But you do make a good point, it could just be that there are so many torrents being uploaded here that they dont get a lot of action each

thanks

Davesolar: Looking at Your profile it says : Torrents Posted: 0
Did You upload torrents until now? I can see none, did You set Your privacy level to 'normal' or 'strong' ?? Is that a way that You show no torrents ?

When You'll upload one, I'll try to leech it, so we will see if it works.
(edit: please try a small one, if I allready got it....)

Quote JanErik: I looked at all the torrents that you (MossGarden) seed, but no one is downloading them at the moment.

Davesolar asks : which torrents, there are none in the list of torrents ??

Hi Davesolar

I have downloaded 12 torrents, and they should all be seeding.

I have it set to normal, but I was actual wondering about that myself, when I look at other peoples profiles, I sometimes see a list of torrents they are seeding, but I don't see any when I look at my own profile.

I just now downloaded one that had leachers, but after I downloaded it, they had gone. I think the vast amount of new torrents make each used less, I think I will give it a couple of days observing if my ratio stays the same or if there are some movement.

I have noticed that when I download torrents here it is a lot faster than it was from MWP

I can see in the last torrent that I downloaded that I am listed as one of the seeders, so I think it just comes down to them not be downloaded much after I did.

Hi MossGarden,

I think I know some solutions to Your problems (JanErik: may be You must correct some of my points)

1. You have downloaded 12 torrents, but You uploaded none, so You can not await to see You seeding torrents in Your profile, as only by Yourself uploaded torrents are in Your profile - as is with those You've seen in other members profiles - only seeding by Yourself leeched torrents is not in Your profile-statistics.

2. It is great to see the fast running downloads here in comparision to MWP. The solution is easy, here is a friendly JanErik as Administrator on all those torrents(for a long time - if ever?), that are uploaded by other members and off course by his own uploads, to make shure, that after the uploaders get lost, he will seed for later leechers (JanErik, please correct me if I'm wrong...), and cause he has a very superfast connection, You may download very fast, but if Your own connection is far slower than JanErik's or the other seeders, You will only get a few points at all. I think for the beginning period of our "new home" this is the best we can have, and as there is no "Share Ratio-Control" in the moment, it really doesn't matter, if You get some points or not...!!!
If it ever comes to a ratio-control, it would be better when JanErik and other fast seeders would stop their seeding after a certain time, to give them slower ones a chance....(one of my before discussed arguments...)

3. Most of the torrents seeded in the last days were on MWP before, that's why we don't have so many leechers, as most of the members here in the moment were at MWP before.

So MossGarden, just upload a torrent and You'll earn ratio-points. But don't wonder, when faster as You are, get on Your torrent, You will not "earn" so much, but I think that's allright, because our main problem and hope is "to get it on it's own feet" or say "to get BowieStation running".

Have fun
Davesolar

Some corrections and thanks for the compliments:

All users (I checked with my testuser as Member) can see all the current activity and uploads for other users. Right now I can't see MossGarden seeding anything. If you look at MBF he is seeding 1 torrent I uploaded.

My seedbox has a 100/100 connection and until now everything has been there for fast downloads. I think that I will keep the SJ archives and HG tapes there to let people get them fast, but since the space is limited that is about what there is space for. The rest will be hosted locally on a 25/10 connection as long as it doesn't slow down my Internet connection too much.

It is good that people care about their ratio, and that they keep seeding the old torrents. If it is just me, I will probably have to stop seeding most of it myself.

Currently there is no ratio, and there are no extra benefits for seeding. If it work this way, it is the best, but if we have to introduce a forced ratio I will set the downloads (not uploads) to zero before doing that.

MossGarden, when it comes to Vuze, I have never used it. I used Azureus which turned into Vuze in 2006, so I can't help you out with settings if you have a problem. One thing that is needed are user guides for the most used software, but that is not at the top of my priority list. Maybe someone can help out? Your problem might be that you have a passive connection, and to make torrents work the best way you need an active connection. That has to be configured in your program, Vuze, and also on the router (if you are using one). For the router you can find help http://portforward.com/

Right, I only looked at MossGarden's profile, so I didn't see that other profiles show the activity, and second right, it may come from MossGarsen's router-setting, he must give a port open...

Thanks for the possibility to download the SJ-archives so fast. As I was a member at MWP only since 2014, I missed the SJ when there were some more seeders, and when leeching is too slow, that's not my thing.

I will let everything that I'm leeching stay in its original form on one of my HDD's, so if its later needed by someone he/she only needs to PM me and I will seed again - PROMISE !!!

Regards
Dave

2. to JanErik:

Now I see it, not only the "Local Activity: currently seeding" but also the "Uploaded Torrents" are shown in the profiles - that's nice.

Bye,
Dave

I can see that I am seeding now. Basically I just wanted to be sure that, I was not only taking but also giving.
And I guess its time for me to actually get a bit more knowledge about the torrent programs. I can see that a lot of you are using UTorrent, maybe that is a better program than Vuse.

Be careful MossGarden as to which version you use as the later versions of µTorrent (3.0 onwards) can give some people and trackers issues. The last stable version that DIME recommends is µTorrent version 1.1.7.2 through 2.2.1. I use 3.1.2 and it's been OK, just the occasional "stop hammering the tracker" message when I d/l something really fast from DIME.

Good tip.

I get quite a few people with problems with uTorrent 3, especially 3.4.2

2.2.1 is the generally recommended version (certainly my recommendation - I use it :) )

I use uTorrent 2.2.1 since a few years and it allways works fine for me, with versions higher than 2.2.1 I had some problems too.

P.S.: this time the quote-function works the 1. time for me....happy !!   :D  :D

...but after posting again loged out by the system...??? :help

Hello Moss Garden,

I wonder if you are still using vuze and solved your problem. I'm struggling to seed at the momen and seem not to be able to connect with the tracker.

Regards,

Haree

It's not. I'm currently seeding a bit over 2100 torrents. I'm fifty short of everything.... but I have no idea which fifty I'm missing.

I have not had a problem in a long time with seeding, I'll keep an eye on it today to see what is happening, but someone also needs to want what I have, most of the time its only the newest things anyone want. - Update, I'm seeding right now so it seems to work fine.

I have had a problem with Vuze and Itunes, Vuze want to be integrated with Itunes, a thing I dont want, and cant turn that off, it often freezes Itunes after playing one song, very annoying, if it dosent change I will have to get another program.
