There has been an issue with uploading avatars with jpg files not working at all.

I have done some changes to the code and jpg files should now work, also for re-sizing a picture.

If there are still some issues regarding avatars please reply to this thread.

Good catch Dennis. You're right. I tested it with a .gif and I didn't see it. Got too excited by being able to load the JPEG's! :D

Looks like gifs are working except for resizing animated gifs.

The limits are actually 100x100 not 80x80.

The animated gif from testuser above is 100x100 (the first with the correct size I found with Google :) )

I don't know if it is trivial to add resizing of animated gifs. Have to look into that.

Strange. The gifs uploaded as avatars I see on my friends page, and the country flag gifs on the members page are still not showing.

PD: Try to add testuser as a friend and see if his gif comes up on the friends page.
The country flag is a totally other problem. The gif files were not included with the software. I found some now that I added, but they are animated, and I don't like them.

Everything seems to work with newly uploaded avatars except for re-scaling animated gifs.

There is a possibility to re-scale animated gifs, but that depends on a lot of coding and testing. I will not give priority to that for the time being.

The animated gifs used has to be 100x100 (or maybe smaller, haven't tested that).

Did the file have a .jpeg or .jpg filetype? Maybe the system does not accept .jpeg.

what kind of filetype is allowed for the Avatar?

jpeg, jpg, gif and bmp are still not working. i always get an error message  :(

I wouldn't worry about it. Perhaps if people have problems uploading animated gifs, they'll give up on them. I hate those damn things.

Does the system use GD or Imagemagick?

Should be fixed now. The error got re-introduced with the "code-upgrade"a couple of weeks ago.
