I'd like to see about downloading tracks that would make-up the Berlin Trilogy in it's entirety "LIVE"., We all know of the tracks that have made it to official live releases but has all tracks been sung and performed LIVE by Bowie throughout the years? and which would you think are the best to include in this compilation bootlegged or official?

Berlin trilogy ?

Low sessions in France and West Germany, "Heroes" sessions in West Germany and Lodger sessions in Switzerland and USA.

There is no Berlin trilogy.

I'm sick and tired of the so-called Berlin trilogy  :)

Perhaps Triptych is a better choice to describe the three works., thanks all for your comments, so just to conclude using what is available any choices come to mind?

I also dislike the Berlin Trilogy name in general, the thing that connects these three albums is that Brian Eno was added to the musicians on all three, but to name a trilogy after him is in my opinion overkill.

If one wants a trilogy then STS / Low / “Heroes” makes a lot more sense to to me, being much closer in sound and feeling. The music on Lodger has moved far from the earlier records. Just for fun I looked at who was the musicians on these recordings, compared to the earlier records, for Lodger there was a lot more musicians, it sounds like they had fun recording it, it is so much more outgoing than the previous introvert records.

I think the Berlin Trilogy name was and is all about branding, thinking that connecting these with Berlin and Bowie's obsession with a broken city and the long gone Weimar years, this again does not fit on Lodger. And Trilogy obvious sounds serious and perhaps arty. All good PR.

All of this does not mean that I would not love to hear V2's project realised, that would be a lot of fun. About what it should be called, either keep the hated Berlin Trilogy name so everyone knows what it is or make up one that you like, perhaps from a song title.

Fun statistics (if that exists)
STS
Bowie, Alomar, Davis, Murray, Kaye, Heydon
Low
Bowie, Alomar, Davis, Murray, Eno, Young, Gardner
"Heroes"
Bowie, Alomar, Davis, Murray, Eno, Visconti, Fripp, Maass
Lodger
Bowie, Alomar, Davis, Murray, Eno, Visconti, Belew, Mayers, House, Powell, Harrison

Low: Eno credit on 1 of 11 songs
“Heroes”: Eno credit on 4 of 10 songs
Lodger: Eno credit on 6 of 10 songs

Thanks Moss, for your detailed analogy of this proposed compilation may a trimmed down version with STS live track added to the mix of all three may be something that would pad out the missing "Live" tracks.

I always took the 'Berlin Trilogy' as such because some of 'Low' was touched up & mixed at the other Hansa studio, not the 'Hall By The Wall', and that 'Lodger' was written whilst the Dame lived in Berlin, though eventually recorded elsewhere. So in one sense, Berlin was applicable to all three albums.

Very well thought–out insight! Thanks for sharing your opinion   :)

I am curious if you are still thinking about doing this.
Maybe to make this easier just focus on one album at a time, it would be interesting to hear the best live versions of each album.
I think that he preformed everything from Station To Station, but I have not checked.

I was hoping  to get a consensus form other forum members on what is available that is torrented here, but based on the recent suggestion that will include STS below :

Station To Station
V2 Schneider
What in The World
Red Sails
Blackout
Be My Wife
Stay
Heroes
Wild is the Wind
Look Back In Anger
Sound And Vision

These are available here from various tours the trick would be which performances would come close to matching in sound and quality, perhaps this may be left as just a fantasy rather that a reality.

I've selected a playlist of Youtube videos just to get a sense of what was out there ...

Always Crashing in the Same Car (Paris 1999)
Repetition (Paris 1999)
Breaking Glass (Tokyo)
Beauty and The Beast (Tokyo)
Heroes (Earl's Court)
Red Sails (1983)
Fantastic Voyage (2003)
Boys Keep Swinging (1995)
Look Back in Anger (1996)
V2 Schneider (1997)
Be My Wife (2002)
Speed of Life (Tokyo)
Sons of the Silent Age (1987)
Blackout
Sense of Doubt (Tokyo)
Warszawa
New Career in Town (Heathen Tour 2000)
Weeping Wall
Subterraneans
Joe The Lion (1995)
Sound and Vision

Encore
Station to Station
Wild is The Wind
Stay
Lust for Life

I kept the STS tracks as a encore as for me they seem to work better .... although these were a variety of performances from across Bowie's LIVE years all seem to flow although not always the best in sound quality which leads to my first question what would be the best to choose from?

The reviews are less favorable but interesting .... but the price! ... did someone actually pay that much for a boot! 8o

A very entertaining bootleg of Bowie live, and although the sound quality dips a little on some songs, it's a more than worthy addition for all fans of the Thin White Duke. Always a class act. Favorite track: V-2 Schneider (CD2).
