Guys, weird question.  You all will know exactly what I mean if I describe it so please bear with me.

Bowie does this one signature move, has done it for years, here and there.

The move is: it's him crouching down, and doing a one handed "earth grounding salute" thing.

Has there ever been any analysis or discussion of this move?

What is it called?  

What does it mean?

I'm curious all of a sudden.

Right now, I actually can't recall where all I've seen it...but you see his acolytes do a poor version of it around 1:15 here in Ashes to Ashes

I believe I read once the one handed "earth grounding salute" thing is Buddhist.

Very amusingly, Bowie does it in the Dancing in the Street video and when Mick sees him do it, Jagger imitates him.

He was doing this move as early as 1969 if not earlier - it appeared in the 'Let me sleep beside you' video that was made for the 1969 promotional film 'Love You Till Tuesday'. Twelve years later [the date of that yt clip] he's still doing it and he doesn't know why? Okayyy
