I thought that maybe during the run up for Christmas, we might have had news of the Blu-Ray / DVD release of ‘Lazarus’ by now.

With the showing in New York of the footage from the London production, but with the original ’New York’ band playing ‘live’ earlier in the year, I wonder if the delay may be due to some kind of hybrid version eventually being released, hence the delay.

Did anybody here go to the film / live show ? If so, how did it look ? Was it well filmed and capture the essence of the production ?

With the news that another run has been set for Amsterdam early next year, I wonder if an ‘official’ release may coincide with that.

Is this possible? Most stage shows are never filmed and released because all the unions that work on a stage production have to make new deals if the show is filmed. And all the musicians need new deals. And on and on. That's why there's no video recording of, well, name your favorite plays from the past few decades and chances are it was never filmed.

willb3d. Yes, you are right regarding the deals, etc etc, but in recent years, there have been a number of releases of a 'film' musical / stage play, for example 'Miss Saigon', 'Les Miserables' to name just a couple.

And without trying to sound morbid, I'm sure filming the London run must have had some kind of commercial involvement because, obviously, David was never going to see it.

I believe a London performance was filmed.
It had a showing at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn May 2nd.

My fingers r crossed for a commercial release at some point.

Not heard owt yet though.
