I'm trying to download this torrent with Azeurus on Windows desktop but I keep getting the red face health symbol and vuze connection error ssl exception received fatal alert protocol version message. Does anyone know  how I can fix it?

Which Windows and Java version do you use? There is a peer in the swarm using Azureus 5.7.6.0 on Windows 10 with Java 1.8.0_121, so we know it works in this particular combination.

I suspect this may be caused by the BowieStation tracker requiring TLS 1.2 support, which is not enabled by default in Windows 7. If you use Windows 7, have a look at this Microsoft Support article.

Why not use uTorrent 2.21.
Its the lightest & best if you are on Win 7?

Not sure about Java but it is Windows XP. I have heard good things about utorrent but they also have alot of pop up ads and Vuze doesn't. I haven't had this issue until recently. I do have Windows 7 on a laptop so maybe that would be better?

If you're still on XP (congrats!), switching to uTorrent will not help : have a look at one of my earlier posts for an explanation why. Incidentally, the core reason why Azureus also fails is exactly the same.

It would indeed be the easiest to just switch to Windows 7, but you still have a few options if you want to stay on Windows XP. The key is to use BitTorrent clients which still run on Windows XP and use an external SSL/TLS library instead of the OS-provided "Secure Channel" routines. I checked out the oldest (v4.1.2) version of qBitTorrent available on fosshub, and it worked okay on my Windows XP virtual machine - the tracker connection was successful and the torrent downloaded without any issues. You might consider using it instead of uTorrent/Vuze/Azureus if you want to keep using XP. According to the changelog, the 4.1 series is the last one to include support for this OS, so v4.1.9.1 (the newest release in the 4.1 series at the time of writing) should be okay as well.

It is possible that older versions of other clients might work too, but I have not tested them, as qBitTorrent seems to be the most recent one which still supports Windows XP.
