It is with great sadness that I have to post this a great friend & Bowie fan Matt Day has passed away in his sleep Friday.

Matt has been a Bowie fan since the age of 11 and later a massive Idles fan.

My thoughts go out to his family & close friends.

RIP Matt, you will now meet your idol again......

Thing is he was  only late 30s early 40s I think I maybe wrong and he was younger than that.

oh man, i am friends with him on FB and yes he was a superfan and a top bloke.  So sad to hear this.  You are correct, he was only 44 - birthday is July 13 1976 :-(

The Cardiff concert mention in this I remember very well I was with him all day and his mates & sisters, I had a pint spilt over me in a pub by one of his sisters, accidentally of course. I had to go home and change.

The little white power ranger mentioned in the section was my sons I had given it to Matt to throw on stage, as I was somewhere else recording the show. I released this back in the day under the title 'WHAT A FANTASTIC SANTA'S CAP'

A great day that I will never forget.

Very sad new ,the idles were playing on 6 music on Friday when i was in the car and I thought of Matt the last time w spoke on FB he mentioned them to me. I started trading with Matt after answering an add in crankin out magazine that was in the days of snail mail for me. we traded many video's and music on mini disc's (Bowie and NIN)and wrote many letters. He was also in a band called Blackout. I met up with him at a Bowie convention in Bedford circa 1998.
I really feel shocked at this sad News it must be  a terrible Loss for his Family and close friends my thoughts are with them.

I had to go back to lots of old email exchanges I've had with Matt years ago. He was such a top guy!! We used to have contact on different Bowie communities, then by email, doing trades etc. Then I kinda got out of many Bowie communities, and I lost touch with him about 8-9 years ago. Looking back at our old email exchanges now is such a joy. Matt was really one of the greatest contributors to the online Bowie community, always positive and generous, friendly and funny. It's so sad to read these news!

TODAY WAS MATT'S FUNERAL I WAS PRIVILEGED TO BE INVITED, MATT HAD A GREAT SEND OFF WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

THE SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT,  WALK IN TO THE CHAPEL GREATED BY MOONAGE DAYDREAM ONE OF MATTS FAVS, FOLLOWED BY A RECITAL BY A FRIEND THEN LAZURUS [THE TEARS WERE FLOWING BY THEN]. THE FINAL ACT WAS 'YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE BY GERRY & THE PACEMAKERS', MATT WAS A BIG LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL FAN.

IT WAS NICE TO MEET UP WITH THE FAMILY & FRIENDS HAVE A FEW DRINKS TOGETHER.
I'D LIKE TO THANK THE FAMILY FOR ALLOWING ME IN TO ONE OF THE 2 CHAPELS FOR THE SERVICE.

RIP MY MAN, HOPE YOUR SETTLING IN WITH YOUR IDOL UP THERE.

Very sad news. I knew Matt Day as a genuine collector and, first and foremost, as a very kind person who was generous in sharing his unique recordings. I used to trade a lot of video bootlegs with him, many of which bear his personal stamp. It is indeed a great loss to the Bowie community.

Belated condolences, chatted with Matt a lot on the Discography website and use to find the odd video he didnt have, I know at one time he was doing a big video project and putting everything together. So sad that he will no longer be able to complete his lifes ambition. RIP MATT.
