Hi all,i can't remember if i have posted anything before, i felt quite strongly about the supposeably 'bowie imports which seem to be becoming the norm now on ebay.I'd like anyones thoughts on this,is it possible, that people using this brilliant, fantastic, incredible site, are
being absolutely inscrupolous(possible spelling error) by dowloading music, artwork, hoping to make a few shillings by trying to sell to people 'imports, rare albums? if that is the case,SHAME
ON YOU if there are people on this site, you should be removed, i may not have items to contribute, but, i am eternally grateful for bringing items which were for me out of reach when i was in my teens(circa 1975)I know the people who contribute are very knowledgeable indeed, you know your stuff, my hat goes off to you, the material you have found, i once again am in your debt. So, have i started something? or, is this something which cannot be stopped ?

Ryko 57

Nice post you will find that most of the new bootlegs for sale on what ever label Wardour, Uxbridge [cd-r bootlegs] to mention 2 get all there material from download sites maybe not the artwork because some of Wardours art is pretty good. But yes I've brought this up with bootleggers I know and in fact they have used my recordings in the past as well, they always say not me I only sold them. There's nothing that can be done who knows who they are on sites with 'tags' as names.

My thoughts exactly. I've tried so hard to reason with people who are paying for this crap, telling them that they are being ripped off when they could get it for free. Unfortunately, they are more concerned with whatever colour groovy vinyl they are pressed on, rather than the fact they have paid in excess of 25 quid for a recording that the seller doesn't own and has no mechanical royalties to pay apart from the flimsy covers and the pressing. I give up, eventually. It all boils down to everybody has a right to be ripped off by whoever they choose. Unfortunately it only encourages more releases like this.

It's not the only way.  Alternatively there's: poisoned croissants, homicidal unicorns, neutron bombs, a global consipiracy that corrupts all vinyl in pressing plants, thermonuclear chickens, spontaneous combustion, a plague of molten steel, an international cheese famine or the Keystone Kops - to name but a few.  They're all about as likely to stop it as buyers not buying...

Don't blame me, I didn't do it!

I'm glad i created a response,a majority of members have the sentiments that i have.I just thought i'd have a another browse tonight, the majority up for sale i recognise that have been offered on this site, albeit still the same sales pitch: rare, import,i could go on.so tell me this, is that part of being a "completist" classic albums (laughed out loud at this) example: heroes alternatve album, remixed by joe bloggs john doe, etc.why in my world take apart a album that does not need a remix? who are these people that buy this stuff? i am myself a purist, in the same vein as it ain't broke..i guess no, it can't be stopped, this repackaging, retitling of
material,it's hard enough battling trying to be a completist with justifying paying way over the
top for black tie white noise, just because i would like to have in my collection the one that has the dvd.Am i ranting too much ?i did mention before, this site has opened up a lot of doors
that wasn't there back then(ok no internet then granted)this could be fully discussed over a packet of biscuits& a decent coffee, however, that can't happen. As a another thought do any of you people ever get to meet in in the flesh to do such ?also, does anyone else have anything
else to discuss? thanks for the responses you people

Well said Ryko 57. 👍

I know a few scumbags that preach online about their 'devotion' to Bowie and fooled many into believing as much.

The reality is they stole, scammed and blagged fans including me at every opportunity.

When they stole from Bowie it crossed a line and I lost all respect.

Karma will sort e'm out with a little help.

🙂
