Hello Bowiestation. Here’s a dilemma that has plagued me and a fellow Bowie aficionado for countless hours of our life. There is a date where Bowie wore this orange jumpsuit once and once only. There’s a single still frame of pro shot footage featuring the suit in the recently released Moonage Daydream documentary. Before anyone starts screaming that it’s Vancouver, it’s not. We found at least half a dozen photos disproving this and I’ll happily link them here. We’ve narrowed it down to it being the beginning of the tour in February as Bowies hair started becoming slicked back at Evansville and it mostly remained that way throughout Isolar I with the exception of one of the Paris shows (which this is not). If anyone has info on this please let me know. Andrew Kent was at this show and in fact took a photo of it. Thank you for your time. Please also note that there is a Wembley May third photo where Bowies hair was not slicked back but the date of the jumpsuit is 100% pre Stockholm April 27th. There’s a magazine cover where he is wearing it (which is included in the photo album) that was published on that date.

It is Vancouver. One of the rehearsals. I wrote a whole book about it, based around an interview with Andrew Kent. I recommend you have a look at Dawn of the Duke. There are many, many photos in colour and black and white from this one rehearsal day, many of which were published in D of the D for the first time.

Oh, and Andrew explains in the interview why DB switched from the jumpsuit to the more commonly seen stage wear.

1 would hazard a guess that Andy.B is right about this also being a rehearsal..Alomar has jeans on...dont think he would wear that for a show...just my thoughts...

I've just had a quick count. There are 21x colour and 28x black and white images in the jumpsuit contained in the book.

And a quote from AK: "David was there all the time, for all the rehearsals. That's where that beautiful tan leather jumpsuit came from. It was a whole one-piece... like a onesie!

"It was a beautiful looking stage dress. But he went from that soft and warm look to hard, black and white."

WHAT WAS THE REASON FOR THAT?

"No idea. I think the leather jumpsuit was what he felt comfortable in. The tour hadn't started and I don't think he was trying to generate a look for the show at that point. But that was the twist as well. You think David is going to look like this? Well, no..."
