Considering that there’s two different mix’s of Abdulmajid, the alt. mix is definitely on the Heroes Reissue AU20 Gold CD (1997) & thankfully on YouTube, as I wouldn’t have known otherwise, my question is does All Saints (ambient track) also have a different mix on the Low Reissue AU20 Gold CD (1996) if at all?

If anyone here knows, I would be very grateful

I’m mainly asking about the ambient/title track All Saints, not Abdulmajid just to be more clear about my question

Also I am a new user here so hopefully I’ve posted this in the right place, Definitely gonna look at the Outside Tour stuff, I’m just glad I finally got the chance to sign up 😁

I was talking to someone on reddit who spotted it after playing that Collected Instrumentals CD.
One is deffinitley crunchier than the other.
Whether tha's 'a remix ' or just one is clearer [?] than the other
I'll leave that to the experts.

No different than the standard Ryko CD by the sounds of it, just a slightly different mastering.

I didn’t know about the two mixes of Abdulmajid being put together, thank you professormouse 😄

Would you also know of a different mix for All Saints (ambient/title track)? Not sure if paulybauls is talking about All Saint or Abdulmajid

I didn’t find a seed for the Au20 Gold CD reissue of Low, so I thought I should get more info about it, I might put in a request for the seed at some point, if I’m able to

It's an official release and can't be uploaded here

So apparently All Saints appears in Indecent Proposal (1993) around when Woody goes to the horse gambling bit, does anyone think it sounds a bit different? If only it didn’t cut out suddenly

Also my bad, Steveboy, forgot Bowie Station only does the unofficial stuff

I'll check as I have the 'Golden Years' AU20 set.
It's probably just different mastering though as the AU20 are totally different to the 'regular' Ryko releases

Most of the tracks are from '79 - after 'Heroes'.
Low: - 'Some Are' & 'All Saints' from '76-79' and the 91 remix of 'Sound & Vision'
Heroes: - 'Abdulmajid' from '76-79 and the 91 remix of 'Joe The Lion
Lodger: - 88 version of 'Look Back In Anger'

It's difficult to know the recording dates in truth - Ryko generally did a pretty good job of Tape research, although we truly just do not know for sure exactly when these tracks were recorded

Beauty And The Beast 12'' Mix should be on at least one CD of Heroes as a bonus track

This is the first I'm hearing of "Abdulmajid" having an alternate mix on the Au20 edition. Did you say that's on YouTube? I can't seem to find it. Thanks!

Abdulmajid on
" Heroes (1997, Rykodisc - RCD 80143 Au20 Gold) " has less percussion noise and is centred
On the Heroes
" Heroes (1991, Holland, EMI - CDP 79 7720 2) Ryko Version "
& All Saints the 'percussion' sounds are LOUD-er and in both ears

dunno if that counts as a remaster or a remix
?

The remastering on the original Ryko releases is very different to the Ryko AU20 releases, even though both are done by the same person (Dr Toby Mountain IIRC) as the AU20 were his 'second attempt' as it were. They sound quite different, with the AU20 also being louder as the waveforms are a lot nearer to 0dBFS because of limiting for volume, which was simply not done on the original Ryko.

My money (if I were a gambling man, which I most emphatically am not) would be on the sole difference being the re-remaster, not a remix. I know you get it, Prof, but far too many these days are clueless about the difference between remix & remaster, as they seem to think a remix means some sort of bloody disco version

have you heard the 'official' [no less] streaming remixes of heroes ?
a bloody 'dah-nce mix' wouldn't be as BAD
what genre they are meant to be is beyond me
a tiny bit like that cut n looped Just For One Day thing = David Guetta ??
only worse
the guy doing the electrics in a house for me once said 'no leave it on'
that was the milton keynes boot where correct me if i'm wrong he performed the house mix of fame onstage ?
it deff sounded like it

there's a website that tries to figure out 'wot' each song means ?
they LOved the 'ouse mix

i'm still waiting on someone who actually owns a copy of the beauty and the beast 12'' to rip both sides
or even just Fame
any kind of lossless would be gr8
:-@
