Mick Rock was a photographer. He shot photos and made music videos of David. He did do one of the videos for Space Oddity but the vocal was the original 1969 studio version. Info found online...

" In February 1969, a video was shot for the early version of the song that was recorded that month. The video appeared in the film Love You till Tuesday.  Then in December 1972, Mick Rock shot a video of Bowie miming to the classic June 1969 recording of the song, filmed during the sessions for Aladdin Sane. The resulting music video was used to promote the 1973 US reissue of the Space Oddity single. "

I know the version you mean.
Not particularly hard to find, though and is on the board here.
