A couple of slightly Bowie related details I came across recently that may be - or may not be - of interest to people here.

I read recently that Aynsley Dunbar joined The Mojo's at the same time as Lewis Collins (the latter played Bodie in The Professionals much later). While it was after the Mojos recorded and released Everything's Alright, it's nice that Aynsley played drums on Bowie's cover on Pin Ups. It's quite possible that some of the Bowie books noted this too, but there you go anyway.

I have just heard a nice cover of I Wish you Would by Alex Chilton, on a long radio concert from New Orleans in 1994 that was uploaded to Trader's Den recently *. I have no idea whether he picked it because Bowie covered it, however I suspect not. Alex clearly had a big appreciation of a lot of music from many eras (and countries too), particularly as he would often devote much of his live work to covers more than his own songs. All that said, recently on twitter somebody spotted the only photo where both Bowie and Alex appeared, albeit because he was sitting a few rows behind Bowie at a Patti Smith gig.

*NB if anyone goes looking for that gig, and gets the impression I Wish you Would is not on there - it is, it's labelled as 'Come back baby'.
Turns out the gig is so long because after the encores, the audience call out for more, and Alex's bass player and drummer have now left the stage, so Alex calls out for a drummer and a bass player, if one has their own bass. He proceeds to do 6 more songs, with a drummer - long gigs can work, as has been discussed on here recently. :)

One of my few connections to Pinups was singing,
"Get out the door, Rosalyn !"
To,
someone called Rosalyn.
Which was the first and last time we met.

Where Have All The Good Times Gone wasn't a single ?
It could still be.

their all rubbish compared to the originals is a constant online
i keep saying = so don't compare

do you remember Fred Fact ?

Fred Fact, wasn't he in Q magazine or something? Yep, I've got a bit of that in me, "this connects to that", which some people like, some people don't :)

Lloyd Cole has said online (twitter mainly) that he really rates Pin Ups.

Lloyd Cole was on a Radio 1 singles review radio show once
he was the only person to mention that he thought he'd heard a certain JJ's single b4
[sister of a famous pop star]
no one on the panel had a clue he meant
