Sorting through my hard drive and found this - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars Acoustic Mixes.  Can't remember where it came from and there is no info with the files.

I was wondering if anyone knew about this ?  Is it what it says it is, or is it fake tracks made by someone.  Either way, I thought it was quite a nice listen.

If it's mp3 it's probably from the = " albumsthatshouldexist " blog - ?

Thanks, however the link seems to be expired - seems to go to spam / non-relevant downloads now, unless Malwarebytes is being very protective here (still letting non relevant pages come up when I selected the download button and the download link url each time, but I was able to close those of course).

My view is there taken from the 2003 Ken Scott 5.1 mix, using the stems, I have a similar folder and also another version called Ziggy Stripped Bare.

I've had a piece of software for some time now called 'DVD Audio Extractor' which will rip a 5.1 in to separate channels for each track.

it's still 'live' but u have to try about three times
i kept getting asked for them online - random db tunes - not a whole album at a time
and one or two on here have asked how - so i told them
hours of fun

There are a couple of allegedly acoustic versions.
I suspect that at least one set is done using Spectral Editing as you can still hear the ghosting of the removed material, whereas if it were a genuine acoustic mix the tracks not required would have been muted on the console, not 'rubbed out' digitally leaving traces of their being there. In this instance I am thinking of CD2 in the 'Sound & Vision' 2CD/DVD version of the Ziggy STardust album '50th anniversary edition' with the BBC material - it's worth having for the stereo BBC material, but the 'Ziggy Stardust Naked' material is faked by means of a tool called 'Spectral Layers' (at least, if I were a degenerate gambler this is what my money would be on).

There's also another set called 'Ziggy Stripped Bare' which is also probably fake but it's done a lot better than the other one.

There are some real ones, mainly demos, with vocal/Piano and/or acoustic guitar, plus the superb 6 track BBC session with just Bowie & Ronno - the only thing from the SPiders years in session that is officially available in stereo and it is simply sublime.

there is many a stems pack out there too

Sadly I know - these are ridiculously easy to spot, as the removal always leaves traces of what was scrubbed out as the tech really isn't there - and never can be either, as full removal requires perfect knowledge which we do not have as soon as any reverbs or resonance is in the mix - so there will always be ghost remains of what was eliminated. Some are easier to spot than others but they are almost all fakes.
What a fucked up world we are all living in, huh?
