Just saw on YouTube Buffalo Nov 8th. But just  1 song, Rock 'n roll with me.
Looks like great sound. Does anyone know where to get this concert in FLAC or so?

I've checked G101 then Bassman's bootleg list... davidbowieworld.nl and even sugarmegs.org (which is not a bad place to find boots). At none of these sites do I find any Bowie bootlegs from the first half of November 1974.

It makes you wonder if there's any real good live footage in the archives, when this is the one they chose for the bluray. Either they're stupid, or they decided to use the good stuff otherwise. Or there isn't any.

To be fair, Brett Morgan was on record as saying he was only allowed to use footage where they had multitracks, for the surround sound thing (or whatever the latest wording they use for that). That was to meet the demands for a big budget, shown in cinemas, hugely promoted feature film type thing.

Even then, that was bucked once or twice (think there was a bit of one of the songs filmed on the Russell Harty show, or maybe it was just interview footage) - for example that's why Starman from TOTP wasn't in it.

He did imply something more is to come, so there might be non-multitrack audio footage that accompanies filmed bits for something else at a later date. Like another padded documentary. Re the latter, the unofficial one on the Ziggy period with Dana Gillespie, Angie, Trevor Boulder, Mick Ronson and Woody Woodmansey one is really good, apart from the non Bowie music instrumental doodlings they had to use to copyright!

Anyway re official documentaries / dvds with extra footage, I won't hold my breath, but it's possible.

Given the number of live and archive releases, I think we're firmly into be grateful for what we've got territory by now? :)

I find it odd that they would only use existing multitrack material when there is AI software that can identify individual frequencies and separate them as they did in the Beatles Get Back documentary... and John Lennon's "Now And Then". With that technology nearly anything can be split into multitrack.

It was/is proprietary software so perhaps Peter Jackson would not let them use it.

Interesting points. I have not listened closely enough to either of those Beatles examples to hear for tell tale issues. I know AI is very advanced now so I guess they probably are at the stage were stereo / surround simulation is very sophisticated.

Pretty sure it's on DVD, cheap - tbh I've never got around to watching the DVDs! However it was shown on Sky Arts a couple of times in the last year or two.

Someone on here might know, if not maybe on Wonderworld or some other site there'll be some biographical details? My dvds are filed away and there is a small chance it's not been put on DVD. It covered 1971-73 or so anyway.

NB as Dana Gillespie is an actress, or at least used to be, there's a possibility there might be an imdb or other listing for it due to her participation.

Peter Jackson developed AI adaptative learning software that analyzes all the frequencies in a piece of audio and "learns" to separate each individual voice and instrument. He was able to take the 1969 Let It Be Beatles documentary and using the AI software pull all the audio apart, work with each element and re-mix it into a new master. The software let Jackson pull out whispered conversations that were never heard before... conversations the Beatles didn't want the cameras to pick up so they would noodle on their instruments while they talked to mask what they were saying. Similarly there were conversations held between group members in the studio dining hall that were unintelligible due to the background sounds of the cafeteria. Stereo re-mixing was also possible by deconstructing the audio and re-mixing.

John Lennon's 1977 demo of the song Now And Then was found on an old cassette tape. The same tape that contained the songs Real Love and Free As A Bird which were previously released. The last song however was considered unusable. The Beatles tried in 1995 to resurrect it but there was just too much tape hum and the audio from a TV playing in the background. George Harrison got so frustrated that he refused to work on it any longer. Then Peter Jacksons software was again used to lift out just John's vocal so the rest of the surviving Beatles could add their parts to the song and create "the last Beatles single". They were even able to use the guitar parts that George laid down in the '95 sessions to make it a true Beatles piece of work.

There are now some publicly available variations of AI adaptive learning software but the free versions limit what you can do and the results can be iffy. I've tried to take some old but excellent quality Bowie boots and attempted to re-mix them but the free software doesn't seem to have the range or capability of identifying and isolating the correct frequencies. Or I just don't have the skills to use it properly.

With the computing power of Peter Jacksons software and the better quality of material available to Brett Morgen one would assume that much of the non multitrack material could have been de-mixed and re-mixed into a new multitrack master.

Interesting.

On the one hand, a lot is possible.

On the other hand, and I don't even feel I'm playing devil's advocate here ... they've done the film. It got a very positive overall critic's response and non-fan response. My impression is the fans' response was mixed. I'm ultimately in the 'mixed' camp on it, though I'm glad it was made and I enjoyed it enough to not regret going to see it more than once and getting the DVD.

My point is - the Beatles are the most iconic group of all time. Two are long gone and lamented. Bowie is lamented too, but there was one of him, and four of them. Therefore I would be surprised if they did a lot of cleaning up of old recordings, where the work may not have that much of a payoff.

Maybe I might be proved wrong - in the past I was the one saying a remixed Ziggy at Hammersmith may happen, Nassau 76 will come out, and other were saying "it won't happen!" :).

It's an abomination at best & deeply sinister at worst - the current plunge to drag AI and it's Ugly Sister 'Machine Learning' into everything as fast as humanly possible and to hell with any & all of the potential orwellian problems it will inevitably create is at best highly disturbing and at it's worst downright terrifying.
There was an advertising slogan along the lines of 'Would you buy the 12th Beatles Album if it were created by AI?' - pardon me for stating the obvious (and not, as most people these dates seem to be very good at doing, which is completely ignoring the Elephant in the Room here) but it simply wouldn't be by The Beatles, would it!

AI is deeply dangerous.
