I was downloading some dvd's today, and if there is something that will put me off,
its footage that's out of sync.
One of them was the Montreux footage, I wanted it, but there was talk about a sync problem.

But I decided to give it a go, and I wrote this in the topic:

It was good I did give this a go after reading about sync problems.

I played this with VLC on my Imac: NO sync problem.
I played this on my big Plasma TV, streamed from my Synology NAS via Mede8ter mediaplayer: NO sync problem.

Thanx again for this upload :-)

Also in this topic, there is a message from Stonecutter:

This looks absolutely amazing but the out of sync thing is annoying. If somebody can fix this,it will be among the best videos there are for David! Hopefully somebody will fix this and the other great 2002 video from Meltdown fest!

That video also played in sync on all my devices :-)

So don't let messages like this put you off...
first try it out for yourself, otherwise you could miss out on some great videos :-)

Hope this helps anyone :-)

Well perhaps the video went out of sync when I converted it to DVD format but I doubt it. I transfer dozens of videos, all of the time. I will try and just burn the file and see if that corrects the problem but my DVD of the Meltdown Festival is absolutely out of sync.

The easiest solution would be to post the raw video file and forget DVD conversion.

Most of us nowadays use media players rather than dvd players.....I shudder to think how much quality has been lost on many of the gems posted here just because of dvd conversion.

Yes, raw files please !!!

I used to love dvd's, but its now 2016, almost everybody uses a mediaplayer like Isolar801 says :-)
Only mpg2 should be used to create dvd's.

Thank you, Sid.

Raw files would not only have better quality, but be easier to work with for conversions, etc.

At the moment I am re-encoding the 2002-09-22 Max Schmeling Halle-Berlin, Germany DVD someone posted.
(love to have the raw !)

As it was....first I had to extract using Makemkv to an mkv file....then I had to fix the aspect ratio, which was totally wrong....then I converted the mp3 audio to DTS (wishful thinking, I know)....now Im re-encoding from mpeg2 to x264....should end up with a 7 gig file....BUT, it looks lots better !!
