Here is something for the statistics and to overcome the summer recess.

I was wondering which 10 songs where represented most in Bowies several tour repertoires.

You can say that these songs somehow represent not only Bowie’s but also the audience’s favorites.

To simplify this I checked the repertoire lists of the several tours on the Wikipedia “List of David Bowie concert tours”, link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_David_Bowie_concert_tours.

All in all Bowie played 14 tours starting from Ziggy Stardust to A Reality. For the statistics I took the Outside Tour and the Outside Summer Festivals Tour as one tour.

Here is the result:

1+2: Rebel Rebel + Heroes, played on 10 tours
3+4: Jean Genie + Fame, 9 tours
5-8: Changes + Life On Mars + Stay + China Girl, 8 tours
9+10: Space Oddity + Ziggy Stardust, 7 tours

Please don’t blame me if I forgot a song but of course you can check the listings yourselves.

There is also a listing of the songs played most in total during the tours’ several shows on setlist.fm: http://www.setlist.fm/stats/david-bowie-6bd6ee66.html

But as we all know not all shows are listed there and the setlists are often not complete. The results are quite similar even when regarding the fact that during the several tours the number of concerts was very different.

The ranking then is (we have now 11 songs):

1+2: Rebel Rebel + Heroes, played on 10 tours
3+4: Jean Genie + Fame, 9 tours
5-9: Changes + Life On Mars + Stay + China Girl + White Light/White Heat, 8 tours
10+11: Space Oddity + Ziggy Stardust, 7 tours
