"As for "Rupert The Riley" it is in fact that old scratchy demo "Don't Be Afraid" by Czar which has been masquerading as a Bowie demo from 1971 for yonks."

Is Rupert The Riley (demo and live) definitely a fake ?

Hi Tom

When I was referring to ''Rupert The Riley'' being a fake I was talking about the track that is listed as such on ''Stardust From The 70's''. The song does indeed exist, albeit by the Nick King All Stars who also demoed ''How Lucky You Are''. Both of these tracks are available here on Bowie Station, somewhere...

:)

Hi Daddymark,

On the other "Rupert The Riley" version, the "demo" version, Bowie is the lead vocal, isn't ?

The original source for both versions of 'Rupert The Riley' (with and without FX) as well as How Lucky You Are is a 1971 EMI master tape.
I don't know 'Stardust From The 70's' however.

I remember an early interview from 1971 where the DJ asked Bowie about Rupert The Riley in which Bowie replied @How do you know about that song ??' Bowie is deffo the vocalist on one version.

Bowie didn't want an official release of Rupert the Riley. There's an unheard demo in the vaults

it's a remix of a sort

you can hear david bowie's voice [in the background] on both

if there's one with just him singing

it's still on a shelf somewhere
