Can anyone help...

I have an old 7" vinyl bootleg 'Bowie 74 Live' on the Wizardo label ( WR 201 A/B ). It has 3 tracks which are listed on the cover as:

All The Young Dudes
Cracked Actor
Come Back My Baby (this is in fact It's Gonna Be Me)

But there is no information about the date and location of the recording.

I have put the files for both sides here so you can listen:

Side A: http://t-stats-uk.co.uk/bowie/BowieLive74A.MP3
Side B: http://t-stats-uk.co.uk/bowie/BowieLive74B.MP3

In Pimm Jal del la Parra's (30+ years old) book he says it was recorded sometime in September 1974 at the Los Angeles Universal Amphitheatre but that the exact date is unknown and that no further tracks from the recording have surfaced.

So I'm wondering...do we now know an exact date of this recording? and has any more of the concert become available?

I would be interested in any information you might have. Thanks.

As I have a few minutes and you aroused my interest;

Some comprehensive info about that 7" here;
https://theamazingkornyfonelabel.wordpress.com/2013/07/22/wr-201-bowie-74-live/

If it really was the LA Amphitheatre then that venue was played on these dates.
Bootleggers may have provided a bogus location as they wanted to conceal their source and/or protect tapers from future security checks.

6 September 1974 http://www.bowiestation.com/TT2/torrents-details.php?id=863&hit=1
7 September 1974
8 September 1974

This page claims its from 3, 6, 7 or 8 Sept.

Ths site claims it was 7-8 Sept

Anyone else know the facts (or have time to listen to all of the recordings side by side) ?

Thank you so much for your time, there's some great information you've provided. Based on all of your help I've done a bit more investigation...

I feel pretty confident the vinyl recording is from the 'Pre-Soul Tour' period which as far as I can find out comprises these 12 gigs:

02/09-08/09 Los Angeles
11/09   San Diego
13/09   Tuscon
14,16-17/09 Phoenix

I have now compared the vinyl to the available recordings on BowieStation and I'm 100% sure it's a different performance to these:

LA - 02/09, 04/09, 05/09
San Diego - 11/09

There is a possibility it could be LA - 06/09, the BowieStation recording is far poorer sound quality than the vinyl but as none of the songs on the vinyl are on the tape I can't discount it being from the 6th.

So if we assume the venue is known it could be anyone of:

Los Angeles - 03/09, 06/09, 07/09, 08/09

But if as you suggest the venue maybe bogus then it could also be:

Tuscon - 13/09
Phoenix - 14/09, 16/09, 17/09

So we are narrowing it down a bit, it's now most likely one of 8 possible gigs! One thing is for sure it's a real pity more of the recording hasn't become available as comparing it to the BowieStation recordings has shown me that the quality is pretty good for the date.

Maybe someone has some more thoughts on this?

I also have a copy of this, when I purchased it from a collector many years ago, who actually went onto to be EMI Canada president, told me it was from a very small venue spare of the moment live performance by bowie. I am not sure to this date what the actual source of the recording is.
