yes far to say that Heathen is not one of my favorite albums but i would love to hear Young Americans and Diamond dogs stripped back as i think vocally he was at his best....maybe Low as well..lol

Nah, it's not that it's Heathen that I'm not keen on, it's the bare vocals.  I was driving in this morning thinking about Fame, and how you can unpick the different levels of the guitars on there (four, five?).  It's the whole package for me - just the vocals sounds like a John Lewis Christmas ad.

BUT also the overloaded vocals make the song... they give it so much more depth....Fame!! with all the vocals without the guitars would sound superb....
