Did anyone else see the show at the Southbank last night? I’m wondering what happened. Right up until yesterday it was advertised as 1hr45m but ended up running around 70min - with the mic changes etc I think there was barely an hour of music, but it was priced like a west end event. I heard people asking the ushers if that was really the whole show and if the acts hadn’t taken their bows I’d have wondered if it was an intermission too. People in the bar were speculating it was cut short because of the footie but surely not? I think it was just planned to be short and ultimately it wasn’t good value.

As for the acts, Peaches got sort of naked and did a decent job of Five Years, and a terrible fumble through Ziggy Stardust. Brian Molko was great especially when he got into the audience for Rock n Roll Suicide. McAlmont, Tawiah and O’Sullivan were very good too. Shah was okay but her styling on Suffragette City wasn’t really to my taste. Patrick Wolf on the other hand was an absolute train wreck. Frequently off beat, out of tune, too quiet on his mic… just everything that could go wrong. I’ve never heard of him before so can’t say whether this is par for the course. He struck me as way under rehearsed.
