Hi there. I'm Sundust, 19, from somewhere in the UK.

I was first introduced to Bowie when my mother sent me off to a record store when I was seven, to "get some proper music". I promptly returned with Ziggy, on the sole basis that I thought that Bowie was hot on the cover! I played it constantly, played it in the car to shout along with the dirty parts and giggle like a maniac whilst my mother scolded me through her own laughter. Eventually she got so sick of it that she confiscated it, but i just found it and wandered the countryside roads to primary with it in my Discman. Fun times. Fun memories. At one point I watched Labyrinth with some kids in school. God, I adored Bowie as a child.

When I started secondary, the other kids laughed at me when I said I liked David Bowie. They were all the MCR, Prodigy, NIN, Deftones types. That was 2009. They were all a bit late to the game -- but I suppose that I was decades later. I took up listening to Placebo and A Perfect Circle, affected that I enjoyed them, and tried my best to get DB out of my mind. (Reference intended.)

As time passed, I grew more comfortable in my taste. I played Heathen top volume from my phone on the school bus once! My classmates were not amused. They were all trying to hear Snow Patrol on the school bus radio. (I grew to really hate Chasing Cars.)

When Bowie passed away, about two years after I left school, everybody suddenly liked him. There was a terrifying death cult movement going on on certain blogging websites. Thankfully all that appears to have died down now, and we can all go back to listening and celebrating him in peace.

Sadly I no longer have most of the Bowie stuff I had as a kid, save for a few old music papers and a few CDs. I'm trying to rebuild and expand upon my old collection as best I can within my limited means.

Incidentally: this site rocks.

Blimey, you're making me feel ancient. Into Bowie at 9 and, at 19, already lost most of what you had 'as a kid' (!)
Don't worry - you have plenty of time to get it back!

Darkbarker: Yeah, maybe "as a kid" wasn't the right phrase! Ah, I had a first press of Low (I have another one now, but it has a deletion clip), an orange label RCA Ziggy (wasn't enough of a record nerd at the time to know which pressing, but it was probably early - it was '72), and bought most of the '00s albums on CD or vinyl, whichever I could afford, the day they came out. I remember I had an Aladdin Sane mug I put a cut of my pocket money in every week to go towards Bowie stuff. Good times. Good memories.

Vicious: Thank you, and, all the best.

I'm considering setting up a site of some kind to catalogue my current Bowie collection. I'm currently using Instagram, but its interface and the fact it's mobile only are annoying me. Tumblr perhaps? I couldn't afford an independent site.

If you dont mind doing a bit of tweeking then a google blogger page can be quiet good, You don't have to treat it like a blog and its free. But there might be other free alternatives that suits you better.

Thank you. I've settled on a Tumblr - but I have so much photography to do!  :-)
