There are various versions of Outside era recordings floating around, but if someone wanted to collect all of the available recordings in the best quality possible, what CDs, vinyl, torrents, etc. would make up the complete set? Thanks in advance!

Start with the first show, skip to St Louis, then to Seattle & and finally to California.

After that, you will be moving to the UK, where it gets trickier. Report back once you have explored the USA shows!

Um, think you missed the point completely interplay.  Surely this is about the studio recordings, and I'm with dragpeace on this one.  It would be great to get some understanding now, with all the bits around, of:

1. How much of the mooted double-CD that was talked about is now out there?
2. What would the sequence have been?

Yep, I'm asking about the studio recordings of the period. Does no one have a specific answer? We can't be the only ones wondering this. Any help would be appreciated!

Dragpeace The only material currently out there amongst the masses, apart from official releases is Leon, something really fishy, 8 outsiders etc etc are just lo quality mp3 snippets from Leon.

If you want everything, or at least nearly everything, you should get:

1.Outside (Version 2) - Japanese import. I'm not sure why/how - but to me, that specific pressing sounds better than other editions.  Plus, it has the "Rubber Mix" of HFL (that isn't sourced from a 12";) and the title track is a second longer

Then you'd need to get the 2004 Limited 2CD Edition (Columbia COL 511934 9)

...and the EU single of "The Hearts Filthy Lesson" to have "I Am With Name" without the spoken intro.  It was supposed to be included in the '04 edition (but they accidentally just used the album version twice)

THEN -

you'd want the "The Leon Suites (BOWSTAT018-RM) [Goody Speed/Pitch-adjusted Remaster]"
as found on...

Don't bother with any of the other Outside Outtakes cd's... they're all sourced from mp3's and contain incomplete tracks

It's worthwhile to also get the EU tour rehearsals

...that's pretty much everything - except for a handful of edits*, and one promo-only variation on a remix of "Small Plot of Land"

* like on the original 12" edition of Outside, "the Motel" and "Leon Takes Us Outside" are a bit shorter
