Hi.
I would really appreciate it if somebody could point me in the direction of some info regarding the worth of a used ticket stub from July 3 73 at Hammersmith.
First post so feel a bit guilty asking, but I have been given the duty of sorting out and selling on a load of old ticket stubs, mainly from Earls Court, Rainbow Theatre, and Hammersmith Odeon from the 70's from various artists. Most are worth little but in the pile of tickets that I was told are probably worth nothing I saw Bowie's 73 ticket. No year but the date and venue rang huge bells with me as I've been a Bowiephile since I was about 13 and The Motion Picture is my top DVD of all time of all genres.
The only relative info I have managed to find was for an unused ticket and some armbands I think. Absolutely nothing else anywhere apart from giant artwork copies. Any help would be really appreciated.
ps I'm 48 and only saw DB at Cardiff on Glass Spider Tour but I sincerely am a huge fan.

Many Thanks

Thanks for the link Terrence. I coincidentally enjoyed reading your article a couple of days ago as I stumbled across it on this mission. Some very interesting stuff in it.

As it happens, there is also a ticket in the pile for Mick Ronson's Rainbow gig Feb 74 that is mentioned (and also Lou Reed at The Rainbow and New Victoria Theatre that I presume you were also at).

I never met the guy that passed away but he went to a lot of London gig and had decent taste in music. 3,500 at Hammersmith so you might expect to see something relating to ticket value somewhere online, but like I say, I can't find anything. If anybody can help it would be appreciated.

Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed the piece.

"We all got one"? Assuming there were 7,000 people in attendance over 2 nights, how many people kept their ticket? I reckon less than 10%. Sacred Triangle; I showed you mine, now you show me yours! 8o
I have the program too, in close to mint condition...... B)

I sold a ticket for Queen's first gig at the Rainbow in 1974, 2 years ago. Final price? £180!

Would a Ziggy ticket be worth more? Of course, but then, something is only worth as much as someone wants it. Personally POF, I'd hang onto it until it's 50 years old, it's an iconic, historical gig and at that point, how many will be in circulation?

I also have the ticket for the first Ramones gig at the Roundhouse in '76, yep, I really was there! :-@  B)

Thanks for that gazatthebop. That ticket looks pretty grubby and it was a one day auction so would take that into account. Much appreciate the heads up.

:D
Good point.

If it's value was actually as low as 200 I would probably buy it off the guy myself. This is one of the reasons I am trying to find a true value as I wouldn't want him to think I have taken advantage if I were to buy it off him.

I`m shocked  had no idea anyone would pay that kind of money  for  ticket stubs . Unfortunately I used to make my own sleeves for bootlegs unfortunately usually  glueing  my ticket stubs ,  to the paper inner sleeve . I had my Ronno one in a frame with some plectrums, still have the Ronno  press kit give away   & my programme from  Bowie at   Hammersmith or  it might be from Earls  Court the same year   just cant rememember. Had  most of them still  until recently downsizing &  binned a load of stuff ( & I mean  put in the skip, I know  I dont know  what I was thinking ) my singles , a load of albums, magazines going back donkeys years,    I wish I had  kept them  but had nowhere to keep them, I guess thats why  people  pay decent  money for them
