Does anyone here remember the Facing the Stranger Wordpress? It's now offline but accessible via wayback machine at

They made some claims about finding clues to an ARG(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternate_reality_game I wasn't very familiar with the term either) created by Bowie. Wild if true, right?

They found some strange, very unofficial-seeming "special edition" tapes and those were the first "clues".
They had some traction early on but the interest seemed to fall off for most.


Anyways, I followed the blog and read every post, found where it leads and I now believe their claims.  I'd love to share what I've found with anyone interested.

I've noticed some of the music from the blog shared here and I did have a specific question. Does anyone know the source of the Leon Suites uploaded here? They're identical to the Leon Suites uploaded to youtube on Jan 8, 2015 by an account mentioned in the blog. Is this the source for the BOWSTAT018 upload of Leon?

Thank you Steveboy! I saw that the source cited was a CDR from patdrome and I see now he said his source was a CD bought in 2013.

I wonder if he could share a pic of the bootleg.
The blog talks alot about bootlegs and where they are coming from

i was re reading
that was all
i have six different Leon Suites
somewhere
i gave up trying to work out what was what
there's two
that look identical - but the actual tracks
they are the 'same ones'
but some are "with fades" - beginning and end

remastered by a bootlegger kinda thing

I also bought the Toy bootleg in 2013 when I dig it out I will send you the scans, but many bootlegs have appeared and there are many variants to this bootleg. Let me get them all together and I will upload a link. tomorrow possibly

I only have compared the one here w the one uploaded to youtube by futureself2464 which are the same but with additional fades on the version here







(also side note, big fan of your mixes PM! Also I remember seeing your comments on the Facing the Stranger blog back when I was first reading it)

Also it seems the youtube channel I referenced here was possibly terminated? right after I posted this as well. Their user photo on youtube was replaced w an icon usually given to accounts which have been terminated; their photo was still present when I shared! ha ha

apart from the 3 Discs official set
i've a
2001 - Toy (PM Edit)
2001 - Toy [leaked version flac lossy]

there was also a cassette of it too
where some of them just sounded
'better'
but still mp3
i don't have the original of that any more
the Leon's
are on another HDD
which would involve getting up
