We are back after the second big problem in a week.
Not sure about what happened, but my guess is that the webhost crashed and that they put back a backup with a corrupt database.

I managed to fix the database except for the torrents table, which was lost.
The torrents table was imported from the latest offline backup, but it lacks about 60 torrents.
Hopefully the webhost has a better backup that they can put back, if not the 60 torrents needs to be re-uploaded. Please continue seeding those, since they will probably be back in a couple of days.

To avoid similar problems I am working on an automatic daily offline backup solution, so this is hopefully the last time we might loose data.

Hard to say what the chances are, but it depends on the availability of a backup at the webhost. Paperdragon is waiting for a response from them.
All the files are here on the server (torrents, info, pictures, samples and ffps) and I will recreate the torrents over the next days if the webhost doesn't have a backup.

I'm working on an offline backup solution that will be ready soon, so that this wont happen again.

No update yet. Still waiting for more info about the availability of a more recent backup. As soon as that is confirmed, either the backup will be put back or I will start putting back the missing torrents manually.

I haven't heard from Paperdragon in 2 days, and I have still no clue about what happened.

I have re-uploaded 21 torrents, with 46 to go. Date and the uploader are wrong for the torrents. I will fix the uploader, maybe the dates.

As soon as I finish re-uploading the torrents, I will open up for uploading new torrents.

After 2 turbulent weeks, the site is mostly restored.

All torrents are now back online.

The following have been lost due to the downtime and crashes:
- All new users that registered between Oct. 29th and Nov. 9th.
- All PMs sent between Oct. 29th and Nov. 9th.
- All torrent comments between Oct. 29th and Nov. 9th.
- All forum posts between Oct. 29th and Nov. 9th.
- All statistics between Oct. 29th and Nov. 9th.
- All statistics for torrents posted after Sept. 29th.

What is missing and will be sorted out in the coming days:
- Correct uploader (and hopefully correct dates) for all the re-uploaded torrents.
- Audio samples will be re-uploaded.

IT IS NOW POSSIBLE TO UPLOAD NEW TORRENTS

I have fixed the uploaders for the re-uploaded torrents, but there are 3 torrents I don't know who uploaded. Can anyone help out?

One of the problems here is that we are but one account on one server. Not only are there other accounts on the server, there are also multiple servers, and right now I would imagine that tech support is getting help requests from all sides.

Also, with so many servers each carrying multiple accounts, they can't back things up all that often or it would be the only thing they do; because of this, the client (us) is largely responsible for doing their own backups. I fear that when we do hear from them it will be to tell us that this is the most recent backup they have.

So, JanErik, as you mentioned to me, our top priority should be to set up an automated backup - whether through a cron job or some external means. The more we cover our bases and the less we rely on tech support the better off we'll be.

Do you still have the URL for the plugins we found for the Swedish Warez site? Perhaps someone built an autobackup plugin....


...and then my mind split open.

There is an integrated backup solution in the admins control panel, but that didn't work.

A simple answer, the offline automatic backup will be fully functioning tomorrow.

Longer technical answer:

On the server side, a cron job is running every 6 hours to backup the database.
On my laptop I will run lftp through cron every 6 hours to transfer the database backups and also the datafiles from Bowie Station.
The initial download (25GB) is now running, and as soon as it finish I will add it to cron locally.
