Hello all. I recently purchased a still sealed copy of the Glass Spider tour DVD, the deluxe edition of 2CDs and 1DVD. It was from an EBay seller located in Hong Kong but was an NTSC region 1 DVD and still sealed so I figured it was a safe purchase. Unfortunately I somehow got a defective copy. It only plays 11 out of the 22 tracks. At the end of track 11, Heroes , the screen fades to black and freezes right after Bowie waves goodbye with his back toward the crowd. The rest of the program is not viewable. I then tried it on 2 different DVD players and they had the same problem at the exact same spot. I then tried to go to the menu screen and manually select track 12 but it never loads. So I m only able to watch half of the DVD. Its a very strange problem as the DVD was factory sealed. I ended up digging out my old VHS copy of the show and fast forwarding to Sons of the Silent Age to finish the concert. Has anyone else experienced a problem with this DVD? I contacted the seller on EBay to see if I can exchange it for another copy or else get a refund. It would be a hassle to return it that far but its disappointing to finally find a sealed copy for cheap but then to have it not work. Thanks for your feedback! Tom

Did you try to play it on your PC or MAC dvd player ?
I had dvd-r copies in the past that wouldn't play on my dvd player, but played fine on the PC.

If a dvd won't play all the chapters on a MAC, it will say the dvd has " a bad sector "

I checked my original copy...it plays fine on all machines :-)

Damn. I didn't realise that there was an official Glass Spider DVD out there.8o Brought back all the memories of Wembley again. I'll have to book an appointment with my psychiatrist tomorrow..... :-)

Might be worth sticking with the videos = apparently the dvd is remixed, and they've accidently mixed Peter Frampton's guitar pretty much out. (Yup, I've just read Nicholas Pegg's Bowie book, and remember this bit!).

The original format is 'Pal', not NTSC..... sometimes format changing gets mistakes - may be ??

Good suggestions all. I need to try it out on my PC. I think I somehow just got a defective DVD. I contacted the seller on EBay and very kindly he's going to send me a replacement DVD. I listened to both CDs and they play fine and are actually more enjoyable without all the distracting visuals of that tour.

Why? I remember being so fricking happy when I found VHS of Glass Spider at the local record store! Although I was just 13, kids are crazy in that age  :-@

Same here, although I was not so happy with the 'Sound and Vision' concert 1990 in Hamburg, it was just a 'David Bowie Concert', and so I loved it beeing there....    8o

The original DVD is definitely PAL, and is a dual layer disc - this sounds to me as if someone screwed up on the layer break. Can you check this for me by putting the DVD in a computer drive & telling me how big the disc is?

The DVD is a different show to the 2CD as well.....

The DVD (Pal) is 6,98 GB   --  The 2 CD were recorded in Montreal, 1987-08-30

Update: I got a replacement DVD in the mail this week from the seller in Hong Kong. The DVD plays fine, no problems at all. Glad he sent it and I can mark this one off the list. Once you get past all the silliness going on the performance is quite good.

My downloaded version of the DVD, which seems to derive from a Russian source, is 7Gb.

The cover scans suggest the disc itself was a German release (PAL/Region 0)
